So...did anyone soften their opinion on Palin after her speech?

Uh, newsflash, we're not electing a Vice Mother of the United States. How can so many women reduce the question of her fitness for VP to her choices as a mother? Take issue with her record, with her experience, with anything befitting smart women opining on a presidential election. Perhaps you're not as sophisticated as you imagine if this is what masquerades as political discourse.

I agree up to a point. But when Palin proudly parades her knocked-up whore of a daughter in front of the nation as her qualification, she makes this an issue.

Calling her 17 year old daughter a whore is, by far, one of the cruelest and egregious comments I've ever seen on this board. I hope you're very proud of yourself. And I'm assuming that you were a virgin when you got married.

It's this kind of thing that makes me regret the administrator's decision to allow previously banned posters to return to DCUM. Obama doesn't need this kind of "support," friend. He'd think it was sickening. And it is.

Those of us who aren't developmentally stuck at age 2 know that Palin when it comes to Palin's daughter appearing with her, she was damned if she did and damned if she didn't. Candidates' children always appear with them at the convention. Had Palin not brought her daughter to the stage, she'd be accused of hiding her out of shame. When she does bring her to the stage, her daughter is called a "knocked-up whore." I tell you what, PP. Sarah Palin is not the one who lacks class.

Although I profoundly disagrees with Sarah Palin, I think that reference was way out of bounds!

You are completely out of line!

And it was even harder for me than it would be for Obama or Palin in that I was subject to the constant interruption of difficult questions. Questions that weren't passed to me beforehand, so that I could practice an answer.

.

Wow. Do you speak often in front of 40 million viewers after being subject to a week's worth of scrutiny and personal drama? And has the future of the country rested in part how your brilliant speeches are received?

No. She doesn't.

I was very disappointed by the speech. I was hoping to hear someone who was intelligent and thoughtful lay out her ideas on how she would make the country better. I was hoping to hear how she would address the economic problems we face and to hear her recognize the criticality of foreign policy. I was also hoping for her to convey something that would show how she could possibly transcend her complete lack of experience. I heard none of this just a speech crafted by campaign staff to make her relate to what they believe a particular voter base wants to hear.

Politicians do this all the time but for me, it was even more that she not do this since no one has seen her before and she has no record for us to understand where she truly stands.

On the delivery, I can see why some people may have liked it on a certain level but many were turned off. Do you really think she sounds presidential? Another poster said she left the impression that she was a hard hearted, sarcastic woman. I saw her as a simply a character creation, who will do and say anything to achieve her personal amibition.

I'll take Obama/Biden's ability to speak with compassion and pull people together over McCain/Palin's abilityto pull people apart anyday. To extent I think part of this election is about hope vs cynicism. Obama/Biden are offering hope for fundamental issue and country wide change, McCain/Palin are simply about tactics to win. Oddly, McCain criticizes Obama for too much rhetoric yet McCain has offered nothing on the issues and refuses to go there.

The message was not by the individual you seem to believe posted it. As a result, my decision had no impact. I would appreciate if you did not engage in public witch hunts. My apologies to you and her. I have rarely seen something so vile on DCUM. I was angry, and I made the "assume" mistake. But in this case, I made an ass only of me. I won't do it again.
