"Gay rights" are civil rights.

Hi, you seem to have some reading comprehension issues.

The post you quoted did not state or even imply that gay rights are not civil rights. Glad to see that's all you got from the post, though.

Why are you so pissy?

your rights should not be tied to marriage, what if you are not married to your partner? marriage, either gay or not, should not be what allows you to have rights, rights should be allowed because it is what is right.

PS I am agianst gay marriage.

well, if it is a choice, it doesn't make the relationship any less legitimate, but perhaps less of a pressing need for drastic changes fundamental institutions.

I am 14:30, here to add a bit more.

The fight for black civil rights in the US is commonly referred to as the Civil Rights Movement. The fight for gay civil rights in the US is commonly referred to as the Gay Rights Movement. As such, that is how I referred to the issues in my posts. Yes, gay rights are civil rights. But "gay rights," even without the word "civil" sandwiched in between, gets the point across for most people. Or at least these people think so:

That's the biggest hypocrisy.

If you have to design a law that harms others in order to prove your morality, then you're lacking morals.

And why are you so pissy about the lack of the word "civil" in front of rights?

Discuss real issues or move along.

Like the choice to be Christian? Seems like that's a fundamental choice.

So you think straight marriage shouldn't have any rights either? Everyone gets civil unions for legal rights and marriage for religious recognition?

You're posting on DCUM, not NPR.

Plus, it's a free country. You have the right to ignore any post your want.

Which is why, in their inability to discuss it, the silence is deafening.

But this is a thread about a very real issue- marriage equality for all- and thus far your contribution is about the lack of the word civil.

This is very common on the Internet. When you present people with facts, they just disappear from the thread.

Are you seriously arguing that what you call something isn't an "important issue?" Seriouisly? Great. Then, if you believe in "civil unions," you shoudl have no problem calling them "marriages." 'Cause how you refer to something really isn't important.

You make it so easy. You really can't ignore me, can you?

See post 14:42 if you have an issue with referring to the Gay Rights Movement as, well, the Gay Rights Movement. You'll be wanting to write letterrs of protest to Human Rights Watch, PBS, and Towleroad, among others.

As for the point in bold, what are you going on about?
