When would it ever be appropriate to wear a 3-carat-diamond engagement ring at a job interview?

Unless, of course, you are in fashion or jewelry or some sort of profession in which a big ring is a plus. I would not think that business or biglaw qualifies.

And I wouldn’t work at a place like that judged me for something like this.

I drive a car that is 3x my salary I don’t care what people think. I wear nice shoes, nice jewelry and have designer bags, not ashamed.

Some people notice large rings in a judgmental way. I once had a man blurt out "that's a huge diamond" in a meeting. Of course he had no couth, but I stopped wearing the ring to work. It wasn't that big (<2 carat), but I don't want to be judged one way or another. The ring says nothing about your job qualifications, and you don't know what others are looking at and thinking.

Only morons would tout tiffanys rather than be embarassed for overpaying.

Words of truth!

This bumped a 12 yr old thread?!

Funny, this is an old thread! 90% of interviews are on zoom these days and I notice if I see someones hands at all. I was just considering if I needed to tou h up my nails before a mèeting last week.

This could work in a different direction, putting upward pressure on the salary offer if the company wants to make their offer attractive enough that you take the job. An applicant of some wealth will not be enticed by a small salary.

No, it absolutely won’t work that way.

I NEED to know why you revived a 12 year old post. This is super random.

I'll assume it's a bot. That phrase that could land nearly anywhere.

They will lowball you on comp…

I wouldn’t wear it. Less is more. Go get a 1ct fake ring and wear it for the interview if you must wear something.

Is this even a question? Do you think an ostentatious ring will make people judge you in a negative light? You can answer your own question.

Not if you're a person with so little self-awareness that you wear a 3 carat diamond ring.

This was such a waste of my time! I now need to start checking the original date of posts??

Mine is 2 but old cut, so big and I don't. I would take it off if you apply for a job as a social worker. Just read the room.

This is a DCUM infamous post. Can’t believe it got bumped again.

Not reading all this. It’s your ring wear it if you want nobody cares. If it’s a poverty place people will think it’s fake anyway.

But question, is this that same 3 ct yellow ring a 10 year old post was bumped for?
