This has annoyed me about the Duggars for a long time: Their apparent need to have all the kids together all the time. They really should have spoken to the kids separately; the older ones would have had a much better understanding than the younger ones. They should have told Grandma by herself, face to face. Then had Grandma and the older ones together to talk to. Then Josh and Anna. Then finally all the little ones. This way there would be plenty of adults to explain things and comfort. But of course good parenting makes for bad tv. And maybe low ratings. So, a circus it is. And to spring sh*t like this on all 19 of them on camera? That's low, really low. |

While I feel badly for the Duggars and understand this is their way of coping with the loss of their child, I do believe there is a time, place and appropriate way of handling your loss while living in the public eye. I have no doubt that they would have held a memorial service, even without the potential for TV fodder. Other famous women have lost pregnancies, but they don't put it all out there for the world to see.
My mom had twins- one of which was as stillborn and as a result my sister suffered severe brain injury. And, I wonder if she would have found some peace if a funeral for Laura was held. But it just wasn't done at that time- and Shari's needs were much more immediate. I would hope that Michelle and Jim Bob see this as a teaching- it is time to treasure and parent the children you have here and now. And be honest as you take inventory. Your youngest children need YOU to be their parents, not your oldest daughters. |

| God bless her.. i miscarried almost 2 wks ago, i was almost 13 wks, i saw my baby jumping arond in utero at 10.6 wks.. its amazing how fast they grow. after this experience, i will never say i'd have an abortion ever.. ive never had one.. but every time i have out of anger towards the father without even being pregnaunt..id get tested and become pregnant!! this experiance has made me agaisnt abortion all the way now.. this is a life!! end of story.. life is eternal.. and the soul returns to heaven until we met again in the spirt world.. |

I agree completely. If this obit brings them even an ounce of peace then I'm glad they did it. We had so many scares with our first pregnancy which culminated in a delivery where at one point they thought our baby was no longer alive. I have no idea how I would have dealt with the grief if I lost him. I have a physical reaction just thinking about this. A life was lost. |

I can't imagine how a 16-weeker could weigh that much, 4 lbs something?? I really do like the Duggars and their show but I do have one thing that keeps coming up in my thoughts about them. Everyone always talks about how Michelle is raising 19 children and how does she ever get everything done and all that work she has to do. In case nobody is looking, the older girls are doing most of the "raising" around that house and also doing most of the work, i.e. cooking, cleaning, caring for the younger children, etc. (definitely not Michelle) and poor Grandma Duggar is doing all that laundry!! |

We are Catholic. Our son attends a Jewish preschool b/c it's a wonderful environment. I have grown up with TONS of Jews; one has been my friend since high school. Having said that, I would NEVER use Jewish names or words in a serious manner. I may joke with my Jewish friends b/c we have that type of relationship, but I would not choose a Jewish name for my children nor use oy vey when something bugs me. Let the Jews have their names and Yiddish words. And get over yourselves. We may share the OT, but the New Testament is ours, as Jesus was a "convert" of sorts. |

I couldn't agree with you this more. 
I wrote the same thing in here, but you wrote it much more eloquently than I did. Michelle is doing very little in the way of parenting those children. The older girls are slaves, of sort, having to tend to ALL the needs of the younger children, while Michelle smiles and takes all the credit for "her" hard work, raising 19 children! I really feel for the older girls. The sad thing is, they don't even realize how badly they are being used! They are pretty isolated, with no TV or internet, and only socialize with families that are doing the same thing to their older girls, so they have no way of knowing anything different. |
