What would you do? E Coast (fed job, no family) vs. W Coast (no job, family)

OTOH, the unemployed can go impact someone else's state.

I do not understand people in SoCal. They are absolutely fixated on living somewhere with great weather.

Have you everlived somewhere with great weather? It is pretty freaking amazing.

Better than any other factor that goes into quality of life?

I live in DC and would be THRILLED to move to SoCal where my DH is from, mainly because of the weather. Nice weather is a huge QOL factor for me. But we have jobs here and not there and are responsible adults not impetuous teenagers, so here we will stay.

Exactly. You go to where the jobs are, no matter what. At least that's how DH and I were raised. A year is not that long to live apart, but of course OP has made up her mind. To each there own.

We are thinking of our kids. We want to teach them that they can aspire to more than living in crappy Centreville in a crappy townhouse with crappy schools.

But to each their own.

Also, I'm sure that Yale does have an excellent and well-established forestry program, since there were some beautiful forests there in the 18th century.

It is a plan to get us by if I don't get enough freelance work or until he finds a FT job out here.

There are other places besides Centreville. We came from San Diego and live in Rockville. We love it here almost as much as we loved it there. Life is what you make of it. I don't think anyone is faulting you for want to do better in life, they are faulting you on the 'one step forward, two steps back' method of getting there.

You sound more and more ignorant with every post. This can't be real.

If "more" = living on welfare, then I'll take my "crappy" life, TYVM.

But after 49 years of either freezing or baking, great weather is AMAZING.
