She’s the face. She’s selling the school. College admissions has become big business and there are a lot of people who lap this stuff up. At the end of the day, UVA is going to do what they want/admit who they want.

I’m surprised UVA let her keep such a high profile. So many admissions people moved on to milk their former titles and build a college consulting biz.

Or perhaps Dean J posts things to be helpful for applicants. There are actually some good people in the world who aren’t working an angle. Sheesh.

They do this, too. And Dean J constantly reminds people about this. Through her cheery disposition, you can tell how tired they are of applicants who don’t follow directions or who keep asking the same questions repeatedly that are clearly spelled out on the website.

Good lord. They basically do this, through Dean J. She is a member of the admissions team who seems to like doing this sort of communication and maintains both an Instagram account and blog providing university-sanctioned information. This is exceptionally helpful and more transparent than 99% of universities out there.

And having just gone through the exceedingly opaque and chaotic admissions process run by the University of Michigan, I will simply say that anyone complaining about the transparency provided by Dean J is just looking for things to complain about.

If you are new to UVA, the best thing to know up front is that they don’t do things the way “most colleges” do. And they don’t care if it makes you mad.
