THIS. Not happening in McLean

Arlington Magazine puts out a chart of how many kids get accepted by school in Arlington. For the class of 2024 the acceptances by school were:
55 W-L
53 Yorktown
33 Wakefield
9 HB
4 Arlington Tech

Not all who are accepted attend. Not sure if it’s possible to know acceptance by high school unless UVA (or other university) reports that publicly.

We are at McLean. I think at least 30-40 get in every year.

Does UVA give any merit to OOS students, like Pitt does. I am trying to estimate the cost implications for DD’s options.

No, they give zero merit outside of the full scholarship Jefferson which is an outside entity that your child would be in the process of interviewing for.

CSS profile needs to be submitted to be considered for need-based scholarships. Have you tried its net-price calculator?

Probably not true.

That is still less than 10%…not good odds any way you slice it IMO

Not everyone will apply to UVA so it is not 40/school class size.

No. We cannot possibly qualify for need based aid. If no merit, we will be full pay if child decides to attend.

So if 100 students out of 400 applied and 40 got in then acceptance rate is 40% for that school. Ridiculously high.

I’m the pp. My daughter attends UVA at full pay. Have you considered outside scholarships? My daughter applied to a variety of local and state merit based scholarships and was awarded nearly 50k.

Please provide information on these scholarships. All the local ones I have found are only around $1-$2k
