If you live in a $1-3 million house why don’t you shovel your sidewalk

I will give a slight pass to the jabrones from warm weather locales who don’t understand the concept of shoveling. It’s a pass, but a small one at that.

Because there are no sidewalks, I’m on straight country road

I just have a plow guy

We do shovel the front steps for deliveries and up to the oil and propane fill points for those guys

Then you're not one of the people OP is talking about. No one has asked people to build a sidewalk and then shovel it

Tons of reports that major commuter routes were plowed and snow now covers the sidewalks with a thick wall of ice. Good luck with that.

I heard that CT Ave is only one lane in each direction, which means commuting downtown is basically impossible.

You are deranged and clueless about "most neighborhoods". There is absolutely a need to shovel in most of the neighborhoods where I live. My neighborhood streets are used by walkers throughout the entire year.

If they are walking dogs or walking for pleasure, there is no need for elderly or middle aged people to risk their lives or health for walkers.

The snow will melt if you give it a minute. Geez.

This snow won't melt until mid February at best.

But temps will rise before then and people can probably better manage the ice. Right now, it’s impossible to move without special tools.

I mean, there’s a reason even DC is still a mess. ICYMI: a bunch of their equipment was damaged when they attempted to clear ice.

Municipalities and schools are having to use Bobcats to clear their walks. Normal people don’t have those. A snow shovel won’t cut it.

Snowcrete…way too heavy for whatever most folks have handy.

The sidewalk I spent the most time clearing was completely filled in by the plow the next morning. Talk about a disincentive to finish the job.
