Kenyan or Janeese?

Kenyan is the more moderate candidate. Janeese is for those who think Bernie Sanders is way too conservative.

I read Kenyan's policy positions and they are almost identical to Janeese's. How is he moderate?

Because Janeese would be a hilariously bad mayor? She is completely unqualified.

Specifically, how?

She's educated, experienced, and actually gives a crap.

Experienced doing what exactly?

+1 I would like to know her accomplishments as a ward 4 council member.

Her signature issue is replacing the police with "violence interrupters," which is possibly the sleaziest program in the entire government. First there was the bribery scandal, now a couple "'violence interrupters" have themselves been arrested for murder.

It is really bad, unlike MPD who never has scandals from any of their members.

Janeese wants to take tax dollars from the police department and give it to her rando friends so they can pretend to be cops, despite them not having any qualifications whatsoever. What could possibly go wrong?

These are the modern equivalent of no-show jobs.

I saw some Vincent Orange for Mayor placards out on 16th St today, so we might as well throw that name into the mix while we're arguing.

The violence interrupter program should be shut down. It is a complete scam. Per the Washington Post:

"The D.C. government awarded Life Deeds $3.6 million in violence prevention grants over the course of 15 months from October 2023 through December 2024. The group used more than $411,000 of that money to hire businesses owned by or linked to its own employees or their family members, according to a Post review of thousands of pages of financial records for Life Deeds.

Using taxpayer funds, Life Deeds held events or activities — promoted as opportunities for trust building, community bonding and education — that included lavish dinners, go-karting trips to New Jersey and an alcohol-filled pool party where Life Deeds hired its employees’ companies to provide decorations, refreshments and DJ services, records show."

It's not the program, it's the leadership. Baltimore has a very similar program and it's been very successful. The Mayor should be blamed for its mismanagement.

Janeese's office weighs in. Reminder: With Janeese, everything is always someone else's fault.

Trayon White was arrested for taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes for violence interrupter contracts, which suggests the city council is intimately involved in the management of the program. Also makes you wonder if any other city council members were taking bribes. There's never just one cockroach, is there?

If you'd like to increase the number of "business friendly" (that's the euphemism we use) politicians then please elect Vincent Orange and Jack Evans. They have a track record of giving back to the business community. And taking from them too!

I live in Ward 4 and I won't be voting for Janeese. She's been totally absent when it comes to dealing with the PETRA developments (aka slum lord dwellings) that are crime hot spots. Countless emails, request by ANC reps and residents are ignored. Ditto with the tennis court debate. Multiple requests to hold a town hall were ignored. No up to date information given, never showed up to an ANC meeting (it's on zoom, so easy to make a quick apperance.) In all fairness, though, she is much better than Brianne Nadeau who is way worse!!!!

Politics aside, her job is to help Ward 4 residents with their problems, not just help with the problems she deems important. Also, I feel like she was not forthcoming about her role in the tennis court negotiations or her relationship with the owner of the tournament, Mark Ein. Not a good look and she won't be getting my vote!!

And you think McBowser will be a step up? You're going to be surely disappointed if you think you have trouble getting traction with Lewis George and expect better from the other option.

Hi, not assigned by anyone. Just sick of the green team promising the sky then giving us crap. Bowser has been a huge disappointment so I'm not interested in her hand picked successor.

It's hard to see how anyone could be worse than JLG when it comes to constituent service.

I mean, call him up. I'm not sure we're ready for a white mayor at this point, but we'll see I guess?

I always find it amazing that so many people think Randy Clarke is would win a race for mayor. There is a 0.0 chance of a white male who has lived in this city for like three years getting elected. And his name recognition outside of the Ward 1 and Ward 6 white privilege bubbles is nil, except as the guy who totally ruined the Metrobus system.

So many of you need to step away from GGWash and the washingtondc subreddit.

So, DC could have a more competent mayor if a good chunk of voters weren’t so xenophobic / racist?
