Guys, this is a masterful move: crucify a guy your opponents aren’t apt to defend. Do it publicly with fanfare. You won’t get any meaningful pushback from the left. Why would you? They hate him, and some think this is karma.
Meanwhile, it’s your test case for ramping up the weaponized DOJ. Sigh. As a Democrat who is terrified that we have reached a tipping point when it comes to the rule of law and our democracy, I’m praying that perhaps the Republicans will finally reach their tipping point and start pushing back since one of their own is impacted. |
Republicans have all forgotten that comedy is a republican. |
Please do not “both sides” this thing. That’s very dangerous. It’s how we got here to begin with. I’ve read all nine pages, no one should be ok with what is happening here. That should be distinguished from folks on here remarking on the irony that the guy who very likely changed the course of the 2016 election is now reaping what he sowed. |
Worth noting they did refuse to indict on one of the charges. |
This is one of the best auto-corrects I've ever seen. |
??? there is pushback, not from the left, but from Americans of ALL political stripes who understand political prosecution. |

“ Guess who knows who is on the Epstein list?
Maureen Comey, the daughter of James Comey. She prosecuted Epstein in 2019 in New York. She was fired earlier this year. She gathered all the evidence for her trial before Epstein died in jail.” -mlawoff1, Threads |

This is no different than Trump asking Zelensky to start a prosecution on Hunter and Joe Biden in Ukraine in 2019. They didn't care what the result of the operation was, just that there is one that can be weaponized in the media.
We are seeing all sorts of MAGA republicans taking the air right now talking about Comey's lying under oath and how he must be held accountable, when the facts do not support the assertion. But, that Comey will face trial under a "Biden judge" is enough red meat for MAGA. |
Relax. As usual, liberals are more nuanced than this. We know this is wrong. We know it’s political persecution. We believe he deserves a great defense and he will ultimately win. Dems in office and in the legal system will appropriately defend him. AND, we’re just not willing to spend any emotional energy on the guy that did this to himself and took our country down in the process. |
Sure. But we need meaningful pushback from people with actual power (which includes not only electeds but the people/corporations who bankroll them). ICYMI: even a groundswell of pushback from ordinary “Americans of ALL political stripes” won’t curb this egregious behavior by the administration. Your outrage on social media isn’t meaningful or effective. Even the rhetoric from electeds is rather meaningless. It’s just words. Our democracy needs bipartisan leadership to regain the control Congress was meant to have along with the checks and balances of the branches. Moreover, the DOJ cannot be weaponized. Bondi needs to go. But none of this matters unless Trump and his administration are reined in. |

Interesting:
The US Attorney for EDVA that just resigned has a connection to the Comey family: his father-in-law is godfather to one of Comey's children. C Comey's son-in-law resigned as an AUSA at EDVA this week. |

In Lindsay’s first appearance before the judge after getting the indictment accusing Comey of lying, she gets caught lying:
|
Would you work for a grifter who wasn’t qualified for the position and was installed by a fascist traitor to seek political persecution against your family member? Nothing “interesting” about it. Of course he resigned. |
We are not going to get the bolded. The MAGAs have just about completed the subsumation of the GOP. It is going to be up to "regular Americans" in red areas to show up in numbers against this administration and in the 2026 election where the GOP is not counting on having to cheat to win. |
