Of course. They want her to stay forever (with her whole family of course!) and for US taxpayers to pay forever.

Or, until her family is afforded due process and a reasonable amount of time (you know a couple months) has been given for her medical team to develop a continuity of care plan— in Mexico or a third country.

Temporary, that was the status given. Temporary means that it will end.

Well, times up; she can get this same treatment in Mexico. I know the racist doctors in San Diego said that Mexican people are incapable of giving TPN and maintaining IV access, but I am pretty sure they can handle it. And pay for it.

I’m glad you know more than her doctors. I hope when you get cancer, DCUM armchair mornings get to decide your treatment plan.

Luckily for me, I live in the US and am a US citizen who has paid decades into Medicade/Medicare, so I will happily get treatment in my home country and not demand it elsewhere.

Maybe, maybe not. Medicaid is being cut under the republican budget.

But try to look at immigration seriously for a moment. what do you want the US policy to be?

Are you saying that the laws should be enforced but there should be exceptions for extreme medical needs of minors?

Or are you saying that the border should be open to all and no enforcement?

Jesus would house and feed the poor and take care of the sick. The Evangelical Christians want to turn these people away. Who are the Christians here?

No. She was kept alive in Mexico but was not well enough to leave the hospital with the treatment received in hospital. In the US, she was able to be discharged home.

Read the link.

Cool, so you take that same treatment plan back to Mexico with her. We are not obligated to treat and pay for the treatment of a non-citizen for the next 60-70 years of her life.

We did the good deed; now it's time for her and her family to go home.

How very noble of you and your ilk.

This was my question too. I don't understand why the Mexican health care system can't handle this.

A lot of people in Canada go to Mexico for health care when the Canadian health care system gives them a long wait time.

Yall just make shat up. The child is not going to Mexico for a BBL or liposuction, but a truly life saving procedure. Nobody is going to Mexico from Canada for that. Bunch of lying idiots on DCUM

Jesus' teachings is a distraction for Evangelicals.

exactly - I didn't expect that you could give a serious answer. Jesus is God, and therefore has the ability to perform miracles like feeding thousands of people with a few fish and loaves of bread, or turning water into wine. The government of the United States (or any other nation) does not have the power to work miracles, like taking care of all the poor and sick around the world, as nice as that would be. All the government can do is make laws and enforce them.

DP. US immigration law already makes exceptions for foreign individuals coming to the US to seek treatment:

Please summarize the above

U.S. immigration laws allow foreign minors and their parents to legally enter and stay for medical treatment primarily through humanitarian parole or B-2 visitor visas:

Humanitarian Parole:
Granted for urgent medical needs unavailable in the home country (e.g., life-threatening conditions like cancer or organ transplants).
Minors and parents apply via Form I-131 with USCIS, providing medical records, a U.S. hospital’s commitment to treat, and proof of financial support.
Temporary (30 days to 1 year, renewable), discretionary, no path to residency.

B-2 Visitor Visa:
For planned medical treatment (e.g., specialized surgery, chemotherapy).
Requires proof of medical need, U.S. provider’s letter, funds for treatment/stay, and intent to return home.
Issued for 6 months to 1 year, extendable, but no residency path.

Legit question - how can she be here on Humanitarian Parole and be on MediCal? And there is no path to residency which should mean a plan to return to Mexico should exist?

Who told you that the US government takes care of all the poor and sick around the world? It doesn’t even take care of its own people.

We are a secular nation and not a theocracy. I don’t GAF what the sky fairy would have done.

And how “Christian” are the people that are taking from the US population heeding the good book? Why do those Christians get a pass?

They don’t have the financial support. California Medicaid is paying. I would have no issue if the family were covering all of their own expenses.

What laws were broken here? The family was in the country legally. While you may not degree with humanitarian exceptions, they were granted one. I do not object to kicking people out who are not here legally, but I am opposed to arbitrarily kicking out people who “followed the rules”. The GOP used to say that “illegal” immigrants should have “followed the rules” and applied like everyone else; this family did. Do you now oppose all forms of travel to the U.S. from foreigners?

Aside, it's absurd that a Trump supporter would have a problem with name calling. It's beyond disingenuous.

Mexico is a Christian country more so than the US is. So why don't they take care of one their own children?

The Demo rats are truly compassionate. Let anyone in the world come to the US and seek asylum, right?
