This feels like pretty much what is happening. They claim asylum to come in "legally" then set up a life here (not only talking about this family with the medical issue) and then they claim they can't possibly leave because they now have a life here and often us citizen children. It's a ridiculous system and we have to change it. And as sad as this story is, US taxpayers are not responsible for providing free healthcare to her for the remainder of her life, which is what will happen if she stays. No other western country would take in an indigent child and agree to provide him or her free extensive healthcare for life.
