we were considered full pay at BC while other T20 gave really healthy FA. BC doesn't have the money to give to UMC. They count your home equity etc etc But yes, if you're working class, they have aid |
BC is not NESCAC quality except for the bottom of that league. |
I am not the one missing the point. Sorry you are. |
UVA OOS. Just not strong enough academically in STEM |
Preferred: Nothing under top 20 private and no public besides UVA or William and Mary. Banned: any school by metrics that has weaker students and outcomes than UVA and William and Mary, assuming they got into one or both which they did. We said upfront not paying for OOS public or privates that were lower quality than the top instate ones. |
You just demonstrated his courage. He will always be a target of extremists like you. |
Columbia is extremely antisemitic. They even celebrate terrorists espousing violence: https://nypost.com/2025/05/21/us-news/columbia-university-president-defends-mahmoud-khalil-in-commencement-address/ No sane Jewish person can seriously consider sending their child into that cauldron. |
+1 |
Northeastern--They bought yet another campus. They accept loads of students but not to Boston. They accept them to London or Oakland campuses. Seems sketchy to me.
|
Princeton -- Due to suicides and the negativity of the four-hour-workweek author and Princeton grad. Sounds like they grind students hard.
Syracuse / USC / GW -- Too expensive |
Berkeley - I am relieved he didn’t get in. He doesn’t mind the homeless and neither do we usually. While SF homeless are usually harmless and often friendly, the Berkeley area attracts much more violent, aggressive individuals. I’m not sure if there is heavier drug use, more mental illness, or a mixture of ex cons with nowhere else to go but the frequency of muggings, being chased, being lightly assaulted, screamed at and property theft and destruction is a frequent occurrence. No one dies and the kids learn to live with it but I’m not a fan of this. The deflationary curve, toxic competition, overcrowding isn’t great either. I want DS to enjoy college not survive college. |
Meh, they're one of the known system-gamers. Not sure if anything's really improved. Feels like they're trending downward, too. Besides, there're all the various scandals/corrupt activities/questionable decisions practically emanating from that place. Not a great place to be right now (was it ever?) and I'm thankful that my DC isn't interested in - nay, actively dismissed - it as an option. |
NP: you have an inability to see any side but your own. I choose to not engage again with you. |
I'll be the millionth person to say Northeastern.
I'm paying for a not-that-selective SLAC (Bard, Hampshire, Hobart and William Smith, St Lawrence) before I'm paying out of state tuition to essentially any public school--maaaybe an exception for Berkeley or Michigan. Clemson, Auburn, Sewanee. |
What's wrong with these three? In particular, why would you pay for the four SLACs you listed but not Sewanee? Sewanee is ranked higher and generally considered better than all of them. |
