You are all a bunch of bloodthirsty psychopaths.

Hamas is horrible. So Israel is horrible. So you hope Israel gets treated the same way. This will never end, you know.

I'm a Jew who went on Birthright and was staunchly pro-Israel all my life until the past two years. The blood of murdered Palestinians cries out for justice and the genocidal evil Israelis are doing is an affront to all the Jews murdered in European pogroms and the Holocaust. The Zionist Project must end and it will end only when it is destroyed. May I live to see it happen. There is nothing you can say that will sway me (and most of the world's population) from this position.

Hey, I agree with this statement entirely. The Zionist project should end.

What you expressed earlier is something else entirely?

DP.

The above will never persuade moderates (like me).

I’m a left-leaning independent (not Jewish) who supports a Palestinian state, deplores the Israeli government, and believes that US should act to prevent Israel from reoccupying Gaza.

But I will absolutely not support the elimination of Israel. The fact that this is central to the pro-Palestinian movement is anathema to a majority of Americans across the political spectrum.

You want to make political progress and help the Palestinians? Move to the middle ASAP.

If you don't believe in the dismantling of Israel as a political entity the same way that apartheid South Africa was dismantled, then you are a racist, no exceptions.

South Africa still exists as a country and South Africans of all races, religions, and ethnicities still live there. But people somehow want all the non-Muslim Israelis to … leave? Disappear? Move to Europe or South America or …? And it’s just not going to happen. If you want “apartheid Israel” to end, it would mean the Palestinians denouncing Hamas, terrorism, and extremism, and agreeing to live as law-abiding Israeli citizens in a largely secular society - like the approximately 1/3 of Arab Israelis who enjoy the same freedoms as every other Israeli citizen. And yes, the hardliners in the Israeli government would have to agree to this as well and if they didn’t, the Israeli people and people internationally would need to condemn them. But that’s how we get to one Israel because the people who already live there aren’t leaving, that’s a non-starter.

Umm, white people still live in South Africa.

And your nonsense about 1/3 of Arabs Israelis being equal citizens is categorically false. There are more than 50 discriminatory laws against them.

That’s literally what I said. White South Africans, Coloured (their term for multi-racial people), Indians and Malaysians - all live in South Africa. But many anti-Israel protesters are calling for an end to Israel as a country. It’s not even recognized as a country by some nations, even many decades after its founding. They literally want the Israelis out of Israel. Make it make sense.

Well you can't blame people for feeling hostile towards white supremacist colonial settlers coming from Poland or Ukraine or Brooklyn or Miami and displacing the indigenous population which has been there for centuries. Occupied people have a right to self- defense and that right is forfeited by the occupier. This is both international law and common sense.

You’ve misstated both the law and its application. Might want to keep quiet if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

The starving Palestinian children? We are talking about getting humanitarian aid in. How bad do you have to be to not allow aid?

I used to support Israel but you have lost all my support. Anyone who is not sickened by what is happening is a monster.

I’m equally sickened by terrorist organizations and their apologists. Children are starving because of Hamas.

Hamas is evil. The children are children for God's sake. There is something very very wrong with you if you can't understand that allowing - no, not allowing causing - children to starve is an atrocity.

Israel is starving the children. On purpose.

So why does Israel get all the blame and Hamas gets none? Hamas is also starving the children on purpose. I’ll accept shared responsibility for this humanitarian crisis but the blood is not solely on Israel’s hands.

Nobody, nobody is claiming it’s all Israel. Hamas started a big conflict. Since then Israel has turned from the victim to the bully. They’re no longer trying to get rid of Hamas. They are trying to get rid of all Palestinians. If that means murdering every man, woman and child then that’s what they’ll do.

You're absolutely right. Hamas started this conflict in 1946 when they bombed the King David hotel in Jerusalem

You mean Israel? Careful what you write. So many Americans don’t know the history of the founding of Israel.

Exactly. They’re calling for an ethnic cleansing.

Which is not only immoral by their own standards, but utterly impractical since there’s a zero percent chance that the Israelis would accept the elimination of their nation.

Its idiotic.

No one is calling for that. It'd almost be funny if it weren't so damn sad that you literally can't fathom a Palestine/Israel where Jews, Muslims, and Christians can live as equals. Can Israel not exist without subjugating the people whose land they stole? And if it can't, do they bear no responsibility for the massive amounts of ill will they've engendered?

Do you also believe in rainbow-colored unicorns?

There’s a zero percent chance that these peoples can live in peace in a single nation. Because of both of them.

There’s also a zero percent chance that Israelis would ever accept such an arrangement, for understandable reasons.

Your proposed solution is, in short, utterly unrealistic. Literally no chance of it happening and, if it did, would lead to even more bloodshed.

Before the creation of Israel in 1948, Jews, Muslims and Christians lived side by side all over North Africa and the Middle East.

I think a lot of people oppose the settlers into Palestinian territory, it would be like if we started all of a sudden building on Native American reservations. Not ok and that’s their land. But that’s not even what the anti-Israel protestors are protesting. They’ve clearly gone beyond that and now want everyone who wasn’t there prior to WW2 out of the whole country because they don’t recognize Israel as a place. It’s an insane position and a total non-starter.

You mean other than the pogroms in Palestine in the ‘20s and ‘30s, the persecution of Christians in the Ottoman Empire, not to mention the multiple tribal/religious conflicts and massacres prior to the 20th century?

Even if your history weren’t 100% wrong (it is), after the last 80 years of conflict it’s quite clear that these peoples can’t and won’t live together in a single nation.

Won't Israel just bomb these humanitarian organizations if they attempt to deliver food? They went as far as to bomb a boat delivering food way off in international waters so why wouldn't they also attack any other humanitarian organization that gets in the way of their forced starvation plan.

I have no idea what the Israeli Government would do. Yes, many aid workers have been killed in Gaza. But when they are not killed, they're doing the work of angels, and they're not standing by idly as people starve to death in a 21st century world with plenty of food.

They’ll bomb them and bury their trucks with the food and dead people in them. They’ve proven to tube capable of that.

They are no longer letting aid go through

Well I guess that gives you a good excuse to do nothing but complain about the Jews. Certainly don't reach out to your elected officials to tell them this matters to you. By all means don't protest outside the WH - or donate to WCK. Just complain here.

Nobody is complaining about “the Jews.” We are against the genocidal Israeli government who is deliberately starving children to death.

Wrong. Jews lived in Muslim lands for centuries. While Jews were being killed in Germany, Poland, Russia, Spain, etc…. they were safe in Muslim lands. I am an immigrant from one of those countries and my family lived nextdoor to Jewish neighbors. On saturdays (Shabbat) it was the Muslim neighbors who helped their Jewish neighbors turn on stoves, appliances, etc…

I mean, everything I cited is part of historical record.

This doesn’t mean that every individual Christian or Jew was persecuted by every member of the Muslim majority at every available opportunity.

Your experience, which I’m sure valid, doesn’t disprove the broader point, nor does it invalidate the historical record.

0% likelihood

My wife's grandparents lived in Iraq as Jews and led a wonderful life. But guess what? The Zionist we're not happy that Jews were living great lives outside of Israel in the Middle East. They ended up bombing and attacking and making secret deals with other governments in order to force Jews to immigrate to Israel. Multiple Jewish historians have written about it and this occurred in Morocco, Egypt, Yemen and elsewhere near the Middle East.
