Why do you have to use the office fridge for food you’ll eat today?

This is normal. What would you expect her to do with it?

Proper offices have a fridge in the pump room.

Wait are you guys trying to imply that breastmilk is gross? What?! It’s baby food! It’s not like pee in the fridge

Yes it is like pee in the fridge. It’s a bodily fluid.

What an ignorant statement. Babies drink breastmilk and there is nothing gross about it. They don’t drink pee. You must be a very immature man.

I’m a woman who pumped at work and kept the milk a small fridge in my office. putting my bodily fluids in an office fridge was not something I was going to do.

Three cheers for you. I’m a Fed and we can’t have personal fridges. Must be nice to be you.

There is noting unsanitary or gross about breastmilk and no one needs a special fridge for it. I can’t believe that some think that the food we give to the most vulnerable newborns is somehow going to harm them if they get in contact with it. Don’t they don’t that we have milk banks and it’s perfectly fine to feed your child someone else’s milk. Those are quite ignorant statements.

I’d be more worried about putting my breastmilk in an unsanitary office fridge.

Every Monday I bring in 5 lunches in tupperware and I stick it in the back coldest part of the fridge.

A dorm fridge uses 30w, less than a desk lanp with an incandescent bulb or a fan or kettle. A kettle will use twice that amount of power over the year assuming you make one brew a day.

Did you not see where pp said it’s not allowed. None of what you said matters.

PP who mentioned colleagues using communal fridge for breast milk storage; I was working for FCPS and spent years as a sub.

FCPS doesn’t allow personal fridges.

Mayo isn't the problem at warm temps it used to be. It's mostly whipped oil with sugar. I don't even think there are eggs in any of the prepared mayo.

On a more serious note, I have never read such an inane take. Some foods can go bad in a few hours and need to be kept cold. Not everyone wants to lug ice packs during their commute. Fridge is perfect cool place to store until lunch. Why would anyone care that people put lunches in the fridge?

No food is going to actually go bad in a climate controlled office over 4-5 hours. I assume nobody is bringing raw chicken for lunch. if you are that is a whole different conversation.

OTOH some people may just prefer as a taste matter to have their stuff chilled. that’s understandable.

Bolded above is absolute bs.

Also, don't screw around with poultry. Whether turkey luncheon meat or leftover pad thai with chicken or shrimp, they need to be refrigerated.

Lots of offices don't technically allow personal fridges, but in my experience, you can often bring one in early morning or on a weekend when no one is around to question what you're doing, and then once it's in your office, no one will say anything (and if they do question you, just play dumb and no one will bother to follow up). Same with personal heaters.

You sound really dumb and obnoxious. In my office I would be told to get rid of the prohibited item the same day.

Every mayo I’ve ever purchased has eggs in it. Maybe you’re thinking of miracle whip which is not mayo. So go ahead eat your warm mayo sandwich. You do you. But I’ll put my sandwich in the fridge. Why should it matter to you?

All mayo is shelf stable. You buy it from the grocery isle. According to the USDA and Food Science & Nutrition, mayo is safe to eat at room temperature, and does not need to be refrigerated.

If you do t like it room temperature that’s your preference, but spoiling is not a reason.

I bring a McDonald’s McDLT to work. I need to keep the hot side hot and the cool side cool

You are definitely the person that everyone avoids at the office because they can't stand you.
