More like some people wanted to get off work early and they didn't get what they wanted. |
+1 They made the right call. It's only just starting to snow. |
Kids from our immersion ES get home well over 3 hours from now, so we shall see. |
They get home after 5:15? |
Not really. All of the media outlets who don't hype things up were stating that snow would not begin to accumulate until after dark. Great call MCPS! |
Honestly you sound a bit ghoulish. You know what buses have accidents in the sunshine and in the rain too? |
Some of them — have you seen the magnet bus routes? |
Actually forecasts were showing they were right, which is why they made the call. |
Not the PP but yes. My ES doesn’t walk in the door until 4:25pm from the bus stop at their home school. Those buses for schools across the county tend to run about 45min later. |
And then those bus drivers have to go park back at the bus depot in rush hour traffic and then drive to their own homes in rush hour traffic. DC and rush hour with snow has never been a risk worth taking It’s like people don’t get that there is more to this then actual school closing times. |
| Rush hour already underway. |
Lots of people are working until 5 or 6 today like usual. The temps have been above freezing most of the day. It will take a while for it to stick. |
Wait, the magnet bus leaves the school at 4:25 when the late elementary school end time is 3:50? Is MCPS providing free aftercare somehow? |
I don’t think that’s what PP meant/said but a lot of the magnet routes do plan for kids to be sitting there watching TV and they regularly pickup at the school after 4, before we even factor in a delay. So yes? |
| We stay and play at the playground a lot after school and I routinely see bus students leaving the school and boarding the bus when we finally leave. |
