| I'm not sure that discrimination of any kind will ever be gone. There will always be a group who thinks that other groups have it easier, or groups that feel superior to all of the other groups. I guess that we all just take it as it comes and try to do our parts to not hate others. |

10:23/10:27- You're a bit of an asshole and lacking in critical thinking skills.
"Recent statistics suggest that 70% of AAs and 30% of whites have children without the benefit of marriage." I agree that the high incidence of out of wedlock births in the black American community is truly problematic, but if you don't understand the history that lead to this epidemic, you could always look to Professor Google to help you out. (Hint: Start with American slavery, then work your way up to segregation and integration, and certainly don't forget to read up on the War on Poverty. Cultural practices do not exist in a vacuum. Rather than just criticizing black Americans for the shortcomings of their community, why not use critical thinking skills and consider ways these shortcomings can be combated? And please- racism can be wiped from man's vocabulary when it ceases to exist- which will be never. Even in nations that are homogeneous racially, there is discrimination based on class/tribe. |
By mainstream American norms, you mean white American norms, right? |

| This thread is super depressing. I hope its not a reflection of race-relations in the US today. |
This is a very simplistic view of something that is very complex. Your problem is you seem to like fixating on what 'the AA community' has chosen. PLenty of Blacks do not fit your description of what you find disdainful. And plenty of people that are not Black do. People are individuals. Treat them accordingly. |
In what areas do you think the "AA community" is self-segregating? What are the "mainstream American norms" this insiduous "AA community" are not assimilating with? |

"This thread is super depressing. I hope its not a reflection of race-relations in the US today. "
Child, it's much, much worse than you will ever know. |
To piggyback off of this, do you really believe that the "AA community" is the only community that self-segregates? (Hint: It's not the only one!) |
This, and things people say in other threads on DCUM under the cloak of anonymity, make me worry that people I interact with on a daily basis think racist thoughts even though don't say those things to myface. |
Yeah, save for "You're just saying all whites suck, go back to Africa/Asia/wherever" and "I do not hate black people, I just hate what they do," this discussion has been quite nice. |
You may be right but have you thought that maybe they're saying it when you're not around? Can you be sure they're not thinking this? |
| I'm not racist. I hate everyone equally. |

14:44, his birth certificate was made available early in the campaign. The hospital cannot send out a birth certificate to every birther believer + birther curious person who requests it. They have other current + former patients who require their attention. The hospital already got the GOP guv to shield them from these unnecessary requests.
Why do folks have a hard time accepting that the president is a US citizen born in this country? |
I don't know why they have a hard time. |
