Dr. Reid is getting a big raise of $44,146.00 per year on Thursday, an almost 12% increase

That’s huge! Makes more than the president?

quote=Anonymous]Dr. Reid is going to be making well over $400,000 as of Thursday.

https://wtop.com/education/2024/11/fairfax-co-schools-consider-contract-extension-for-superintendent-michelle-reid/

"...The updated contract would give Reid an annual salary of $424,146 and a $12,000 annual car allowance..."

This is almost a 12% increase.

Are our teachers and instructional staff also getting a 12% salary increase?

I doubt that Reid can achieve broken clock status. Anyone believe she makes two correct decisions a day. Deserves to be sacked not get a big raise.

I don't think this has anything to do with the school board, ding dong.

Yes it does. They quietly extended her contract without stakeholder input late last year.

Yes, teachers get the same % increases.

The only news here is that the original 2022 contract is extended on the same trajectory, and that % increases are considered a meaningful equivalent unit of measure regardless of the underlying actual value.

Teachers and IAs should absolutely not be getting her level of pay raise, she is the administrator/CEO of a multi billion dollar school system/organization. There’s not even a 5% comparison between her job responsibilities and those of a teacher, none. This is the equivalent of saying that a federal employee should be making the same as the President.

This is a highly important position with a tremendous amount of knowledge requirement, stress and managing gazillion stakeholders. A teacher wouldn’t know the first thing to do in her job. Yes, teaching is a calling and teachers are very important to our society but please get over yourself.

Really? If that's true, why was my January paycheck LESS than my December, November, October, and September check? No, it's not because of health insurance or other deductions. We are insured through my spouse.

Stop calling teaching a calling. It’s a profession, and one that gets regularly undervalued and abused. People use the term “calling” to justify the lower salaries.

And also: you clearly have no idea what a teacher does. We could cut the administrative level of the school system by half and not even feel the impact, but the system would shut down tomorrow morning if we didn’t have teachers.

And your comment that teachers couldn’t do her job? She was a teacher, so there goes your theory.

Aside from the fact that her performance has not been stellar, I don't think you understand what a percentage is.

I do not understand why the SB gave her this raise. She makes a lot of $$$ without the 12 percent raise and I do not see what she has done to deserve it.

You realize the post you quoted is about the superintendent’s contract and not yours right? Unless this is Dr Reid responding, which I doubt.
