Somebody has to pay for it, meaning the taxpayers are stuck with the bill. Don't let the freeloaders graduate until they pay their bills.

When the rich start paying their fair of taxes, maybe we’ll worry about lunch debt. Until then go back to the Bootlicking Factory.

Please tell us how the "rich" get out of paying property taxes, which is by far the main source of school funding.

So it's absolutely warranted for your average FFX homeowner (a mil/fed/ctr who consistently gets a 2-3% raise, paying $8,000 a year in real estate taxes for a 1970s 4br/2ba home) to feel there's a lack of accountability and oversight the FCPS superintendent gets a 12% raise on a $400,000 salary.

https://wtop.com/education/2024/11/fairfax-co-schools-consider-contract-extension-for-superintendent-michelle-reid/

"...The updated contract would give Reid an annual salary of $424,146 and a $12,000 annual car allowance..."

This is almost a 12% increase.

Are our teachers and instructional staff also getting a 12% salary increase?

On par with the president.

Anonymous wrote:Fed here- this salary is already ridiculous. She makes more than cabinet level secretaries, Senators and congressmen. Low to mid 200s is an adequate salary. I don’t understand why so many of these positions pay this highly. They’re public sector.

And 10% of what UVA’s football and basketball head coaches will make.

If you’re gonna get worked up about tax money going to overpaid positions…

UVA basketball and football coaches generate revenue. They operate programs that actually fund other programs. So unless their salaries were causing the programs to be in the red, I would focus more on Dr. Reid, who is grossly overpaid and it appears is, at best, currently trying to cover up a massive scandal at Hayfield (in spite of her recent promise to hire outside investigators) and at worst, complicit in said scandal.

Also, Reid's salary isn't 10% of what Bennett was going to make this year, it is more than that. And, her salary is FAR more than 10% of the current HC of UVA hoops. Also, with Reid's raise she is making more than 10% of the UVA football HC's salary.

But hey, sweet job of trying to distract from the actual problem: Reid's continued employment.

I would live a raise like that. That’s more than double the average household income in the county.
