Is Desantis going to wear his white shrimp boots again?

I also hope Florida rejects any federal aid and other federal subsidies too.

You're doing rescue and relief in NC?

Well, I guess he showed her /s.

Seriously, his state is expected to get hit with a second devastating storm in two weeks and he can’t put aside politics for the good of everyone about to lose their homes and at least pretend to be a mature adult? Maybe is the Tampa area we’re more red…

If he won’t talk to federal officials about pre-positioning supplies and a coordinating a disaster response, he just lost the ability to complain about Feds not doing enough. “We tried to help Florida. We knew this was going to be bad and tried to get rouses in place ahead of the storm, and the governor wouldn’t even pick up the phone and wouldn’t agree to let us bring in resources”. He really thinks this winds elections?

I’m a really mild-mannered and gentle person. I take the insects that get into my house outside so I don’t have to kill them. And I’m hoping terrible things happen to DeSantis that will wipe that smirk off his face. I’m so glad I don’t live in Florida. It would be awful to feel my fate was in any way dependent on him.

Voters in FL knew what he was when he undercut COVID relief while people were dying waiting in line for the ER. They can’t say they didn’t know this would happen.

Enjoy fending for yourself Florida.

She’s not the President

The call should come from Biden.

Seriously? The VP isn’t a high enough ranking official or important enough to be the one to reach out and ask if Florida wants assistance. “I’m a Governor and am too important talk to the VP while my state is string down a category 5 hurricane is petty. Especially since every MAGA voters insists that, as VP, she is solely responsible for and has the ability to solve all issues related to the economy annd immigration. And is the one person on the planet who could bring peace to the Middle East, if she bothered to try.

And remember, the Biden Administration is also dealing with the Anniversary og 10/7 today, attacks in Gaza and Lebanon, and Hurricane Helene recovery— while being a month out from the election. Seems reasonable that one person can’t do all of that today.

But more to the point, which is it? Is Harris this omnipotent person who has the power to solve every problem in the world? Or does she have so little power she can’t even offer FEMA assistance on behalf of Biden. Y’all are twisting yourself into pretzels at this point trying to give her both unlimited power and no power, at the same time.

A reminder that Tampa is blue and there are many blue voters in the state.

This may be the pettiest thing I have read on here this month. Which says something. Florida is in for massive loss of life and destruction, and what really matters to them is who calls on behalf of the Administration. Of course, he be shocked because if Trump were in charge and Florida had gone blue in the last election, no one would call, even from the third assistant deputy undersecretary in charge of weather mapping the Arctic. and the federal government would be refusing to help.

Put in an administration that will begin to take some very long overdue action on that and is competent to try to help the people getting pounded by monster storm after monster storm. With plenty more to come.

Hurricanes are down in frequency and intensity on average since the 1950s.

Due to global cooling.

Excellent. You are in a very good position to make a killing in the Florida waterfront condo real estate market. Best of luck!

Yes and offer time shares on Pacific islands that should be swell by his/ her climate theory …

Did it ever occur to you that that is why DeSantis is willing to play games with federal disaster response?

Ok. So then should us non Floridians care? If YOU don’t care, I don’t see why I should care. I felt absolutely horrible for folks in NC. A storm of that magnitude was just not expected.

But if you’re saying most people in FL are chill, prepared and don’t get too upset with the associated flooding and damage, then I am turning my attention to bigger problems.

Please do. Nobody is asking you to care.

So you don’t want federal funds or assistance for Florida? Fine with me. NC can use anything FL doesn’t.

DeSantis is always playing all the games. He can't run again, thankfully. No need to spend time microanalyzing how horrible he is. Same with Trump who says or does one offensive/stupid/criminal thing a day.

Florida and local government Emergency Management officials are working with FEMA and other federal agencies. Mass evacuation is beginning. Talking to the Governor is mostly a courtesy to offer any help needed. Governors mostly posture politically during disasters. The money and programs flow from federal to state and local agencies through trained and experienced bureaucrats who know what they are doing, despite the bullshit political narratives.

Except PP Trump would eliminate FEMA and many of those experienced professionals.
