Hope he does! A 30min later start time for HS would be better for this age group. Even a 20min later start time would help!

No, it would cause a lot of issues with buses and after school activiites.

No it would not cause issues with buses and activities if they moved all three school levels' start time 20min later. After school activities could become before school activities.

Start times for HS have already changed with lack of bus drivers and buses doing double HS runs. First run is now earlier.

Then drive your own kids, have them go to bed earlier, nap after school... lots of options.

Mine just take the county bus. So many people seem so helpless, but it's easy to find solutions to these problems for anyone who cares to try.

You have a county bus?
Lucky.

MCPS has a 2 mile rule for HS. Many public buses don't have a direct route from homes to schools.

Some schools kids receive because it is too dangerous walking to and from school.

Nope, we have a dangerous walk with two major roads and most of the walk without sidewalks and MCPS doesn't care.

They did. Then people like you forced that thread to close.

What has he said at these "listening" sessions? Will he actually DO SOMETHING on issues that were brought up?

He's not SAYING anything interesting in these forums. The interesting things being said are really coming from the community. His general response seems to be to apologize for people's bad experiences and to varying degrees, admit that there's room for improvement in the system.

Turnout has been smaller than I expected, to be honest.

No body wants to hear a white guy try to find solutions? Didn't folks attend when McKnight was Super or did she have equally low numbers?

How would that work? The staff running those programs would now have to be available in the morning and I’m not sure how feasible that plan is.

Right, it's a listening session--the point is for him to listen to the people that attend.

Then, when is he going to do action sessions?
