t they’ve dreamed for this
Moment the entire lives. It only happens every four years and the chances of returning are slim. I think they’re entitled to record one of the biggest moments of their lives from their own vantage point.

For a couple minutes, sure.
But why not live in the moment for 99% of it?
It's not like brides and grooms are hand recording their vows. The professional footage will bring back the memories.

I think a young one wrote that comment about being entitled to record this moment - she probably watched the whole of Taylor Swift's concert through her phone screen. Good point about weddings. Usually it's better to buy copies of photos taken by professionals.

Haven’t watched yet — recorded it — but am so happy to hear it went well. Now I will watch it. Given the arson on the train system earlier, I was afraid there might be disruptions. For all the athletes who have dreamed and worked to get there, and for the entire world, really, I hope the Games go smoothly.

According to Twitter, the RWNJs think it’s full of satanic symbolism. Lawd have mercy!

It was so very long for no good reason

And sticking Michael Phelps in during a performance section was just bizarre.

I hated the masked torch bearer schtick - a friend told me it had to do with a video game?

The horse thing was kind of cool for the first minute.

I did like seeing Tony Parker, though. I was like “oh, yeah-I almost forgot he’s French” my daughter laughed at me when they mentioned the spurs and I started yelling “Timm-eh!” (Sorry, go Deacs

The floating balloon torch is kind of cool. I mean, it’s no archer lighting the cauldron, but nifty in its own way.

And Celine - that was great.

I'm OK with Celine lip syncing. It was just wonderful to see her on a stage again.

The air show with jets in formation with the red white and blue smoke was stunning.

Have you nothing positive inside?

Yes. That needed to be only 1 minute long, actually 30 seconds. They had to resort to picture reels to fill the time. Same with the pretty horse trotting with the torch bearer

Yes. The other track dudes can pull off slightly disheveled hair with their faces, it would look intentionally ironic on them.

Did NBC just show the advertisement of Jesus? I didn’t catch it.

I am unaware of his misogyny. Are you sure you’re not confusing him w Kanye or P Diddy? They’re aren’t all the same person you know. Snoop is awesome to me.

The decapitation was more startling.

I LOVED it. The Ceremony was full of bold choices and really brought forward the history of the host city.

The river forces everyone into a slower rhythm. People forget forces of nature, but today on the Seine and with the driving rain, it was a pointed reminder that we humans depend on a benevolent climate... which is fitting for Games that purport to be more climate-friendly.

I think it was a stroke genius to anchor the Ceremony outside, and have a montage of video clips and live action. Yes, boats go slower! Learn to appreciate it.

These organizers have raised the bar sky high for the next organizers!
