Seriously - just do a little research before crying racism every single time. Good grief. |
Not really. Canadian immigration has broken down. It's a mess. The immigrants coming now - mostly from India - are NOT educated, which is a big problem. Immigration is one of the reasons Trudeau is so unpopular in Canada. But Canadians generally have been getting fatter for all the usual reasons - sedentary lifestyle, the declining quality of food, more ordering out and less cooking of fresh food, etc. It's not American levels of fat, but getting there, particularly among low income Canadians. |
Constantly shivering helps keeps the pounds off. |
Running from polar bears keeps them warm and fit. |
| Plenty of fat Canadians. Europeans too: Either Germany or the UK give the USA a good run for our money (though morbidly obese of any nationality won't run far, if at all). |

Canada's fastest growing ethnic group is Asians.
Asians make up 20% of the Canadian population and only 7% of the US population. |
| PP here again. If you were in a major city, Vancouver is 50% Asian and Toronto is 40% Asian. |
This. If you have serious health issues related to obesity I suspect you are more likely to die in Canada. It's great for routine doctor visits, but we know people who were on insane waitlists to see specialists. Quite a few people pay out of pocket to come here when they need a specialist. |
| I have spent a decent amount of time in Quebec. I saw one fat person. So you can post all the statics you'd like there isn't too many fatties in Quebec. I loose weight when I'm there. I asked a doctor about this and they said the intense cold burns more brown fat and they can eat rich cheeses and not get as fat. I think they're right. |
You were probably in the nicer areas of Montreal. In the province of Quebec overall, the population is 60% obese or overweight. 30% of people are obese as are 20% of 12-17 year olds. The rate is really high in rural areas. |
| OP have you been to a Canadian grocery store? You'd know the answer if you have. |

When I'm hot, I don't want to move. I want to sit in air conditioning and eat ice cream.
In cold weather, I feel more motivated to cook and exercise. It's far easier to layer when you're cold - in the heat, you can be mostly naked and still feel sweaty. I mean also look at colder US states - the south is overwhelmingly more obese. |
| Are you kidding? Go to Maritimes. Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Fat folks everyone. Northern red neck. |

If we are going to talk about race and ethnicity are we forgetting the Inuit people?
They actually have a higher rate of obesity. There are fat Americans. There are fat Canadians. Data sources vary in exact numbers, but there are MORE fat Americans then Canadians. We are winning at FAT. |
