What kind of stats to consider those as safeties? |
U of Arizona (which has a published guaranteed admit if you meet certain stats so can be a true safety if you have the numbers)—generous aid package
Pitt — applied late in the rolling and got in ED at different school so withdrew Very unclear if UMd was a safety or not! We didn’t consider it to be (even tho my kid had high stats and great EC) which is why we did Arizona and Pitt. I’m reading this thread with interest as I have another kid coming up that won’t have as high stats and all the stories about rejections from UmD just makes me really nervous about where they will land. |
+1 For high stats kids at high achieving schools, admit rate is 50%, but those schools are not the majority in MCPS. You can see the stats here: admitted/accepted by HS (grain of salt, these numbers are self reported) https://moco360.media/2023/09/13/where-montgomery-county-high-school-graduates-are-going-to-college/ Then compare with last year's enrollment numbers for each HS https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/sharedaccountability/glance/index.aspx Example: BCC accepted 149 BCC HS seniors 586 Admitted 25% Whitman accepted 243 Whtiman HS seniors 474 Admitted 51% Einstein accepted 77 Einstein HS seniors 389 Admitted 20% |
