Not at all. Tuckahoe tried to pull rank and got nothing. They wanter 3 home meets + Divisionals and got none of it. |
Out of nothing but prurient interest, can someone share more? What kind of “fit” did the Tuckahoe reps throw and why? And of course then how and why did NVSL move Divisionals? Did Tuckahoe say they didn’t want it or is this punishment of some sort? We have some families on our team who would love to see us move up into these high divisions but stuff like this is nuts and makes me glad we are nowhere near the top divisions. |
I’ll take Virginia Run’s spectator area over many other pools. They provide bleachers, with canopies/tents, at the turn end. They also provide pool chairs along the side on the pool deck. Many other pools I’m stuck sitting on the side of a hill in some buggy grass area. Some of the hills are so steep, the chairs lean forward. |
I don’t know about Tuckahoe’s fit. But I am a team rep for a top third pool. At the meeting they hand out your division and then you go there and get the schedule. Your division rep asks you to look at schedule and make sure it is all okay. Honestly I always thought that was to make sure it was not messed up or had a typo.
It never would occur to me in a million years to argue the schedule or threaten to withhold. That is so childlike. |
Why aren’t the schedules posted on the NVSL website? |
Yes!!! Why are the scheduled published? Come on NVSL… |
They don't have a 10 year waitlist. People get on the list before they have kids. OVL has a lot of large families. They also offer a membership transfer with a real estate transaction. If you buy a house from a member who is moving away, they can transfer their membership to you. It's a great perk. |
Because it’s run by a group of volunteers, most of whom probably have full time jobs and other family commitments. As a rep, I can only imagine the level of work that goes into being a board member pulling off an entire season. Teams have their schedules and can post on their websites. I’m sure they’re prioritizing time sensitive activities to prep for the season while also managing the rest of their lives. I think we all forget that outside of coaches, the NVSL is entirely volunteer-run. There is no entity like many other youth sports teams that have paid staff to manage the admin. Soapbox over ![]() |
❤️❤️❤️❤️ So much gratitude to the thousands of people needed to put together the wonderful summer league experiences for our children, and especially those of you in leadership roles (all volunteer positions). |
OVL just decided to host D1 divisionals last night. |
|
Tuckahoe only has 2 home meets |
SS2!is also out there. They have 8 lanes and host divisionals often |
|
They have over 250 kids. They don't have problem with getting parents' volunteering especially when their kid(s) are swimming.
