NVSL Seeding Surprises?

If it’s so easy to run these larger meets and so many volunteers are willing to help AND you make so much money - why didn’t Tuckahoe host the meet?

Bigger teams sometimes have trouble because it’s easy to think someone else will do it. Also, it’s Arlington, capital of the self-involved and self-important.

The longtime D1 division coordinator who retired from the position last season gave them 3 home meets in exchange for hosting. When that arrangement didn’t happen this year with the new coordinator they refused to host.

Bummer Tuckahoe is not hosting Divisionals for the D1 teams. Now their advantage of high edge and internal gutters won’t be at play.

No skin in the D1 drama, but when Tuckahoe refused to host couldn’t another team host besides Overlee?

Chesterbrook, OKM, DR, or Highlands? Why did Ovelee need to host both divisionals and relay carnival? Couldn’t one of the other 4 pools step up?

What's wrong with Overlee hosting? They're the ones that volunteered.

I think it is amazing Overlee did step up. Most pools in the NVSL would not be allowed to do that by their board because they pool membership would be furious. Hosting meets means closing the pool to its members. Members get mad when they cannot swim in the summer.

The others probably didn’t want to host or they would have volunteered earlier. It’s fine.

Overlee is blessed with multiple pools so they may still be able to accommodate members during big meets, I’m not sure. Either way it’s much appreciated!!

Not going to happen. The entire pool is closed during big meets. No one wants to risk a false start at divisionals because some toddler is yelling "mommy look at me 100x"

Not to mention every inch of the pool deck and parking is taken over by the teams.

It would seem like at maximum they would only have to close during the actual meet whereas from this thread, it sounded like other pools would have to close the day before as well.

The funny thing about Tuckahoe throwing a fit over only hosting 2 A meets is that when it comes to B meets they NEVER want to host. They reach out to other pools and don't just ask for a B meet, but straight up say "we'd love a B meet AT X-pool". Even if that pool hosted them last. No reciprocation. Not surprising they only have 2 B-meets with other teams.

For divisionals and relay carnival pools just close for the day or part of the day. For relay carnival our pool usually closes at 2 or 2:30 pm. For Divisionals they are close most of the day but can reopen at 4pm.

It's the All star meets that require them to close for longer/the day before because there is a LOT more set-up involved.

We like hosting B meets because they are a huge source of revenue for the team. But, I guess they don't need it. Parents hate it because you are up so late and with a big team that is a lot.
