Beyoncé Country Album

Why do we give same overrated celebrities so much attention, record labels need to find and promote other talent. We've no shortage of talent in this country.

How has Beyonce never won album of the year? No rap album has ever won, either.

I’m a lukewarm Beyoncé fan and I just cannot get into country music so not a good judge if this is any good. It certainly is brave to try another genre. Who has gone from pop/rock to country successfully? I know some have tried but successfully? Seems tough to pull off.

Are you suggesting Beyoncé is pop/rock?

NP. Beyoncé is absolutely pop. Tell me if Dua Lipa was singing covers of Beyoncé songs you would consider it anything other than pop music.

Beyoncé has won 32 Grammys and not a single one has been in a pop category. (Making jay z’s argument).

If she has won 32 grammys then WTF are they complaining about. Two huge overblown egos that need to sit down.

How do you have 32 award winning songs but not an award for the album

Maybe it's only a good song but the album as a whole doesn't make the grade?

Or we could acknowledge that all these awards are BS.

Beyonce and Jay-Z have no perspective. They are raging narcissists.

Statistically impossible to have that many Grammys and not be album of the year.

It's not statistically impossible because the winner isn't decided randomly. Sounds like the people who decide don't like that Beyonce isn't as much a songwriter as singer and collaborates with too many others.

It is paid astroturfing. The labels blow millions to make Beyonce a "thing" because she's married to that idiot Jay Z. She is a washed up has-been.

This is a cute song. She needs a handful before she is restored as somewhat relevant.

There are African American cowboys in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and also Florida. I've seen some African American American men in the ranching areas of Florida clearly making big paychecks. They are driving big expensive pickup trucks, wear large silver belt buckles and wear good quality leather cowboy boots. Some of ya'll have not visited "real" Florida.

How is country music cultural appropriation when African Americans grow up in the country?

They’re a small fraction of it before and smaller now. Whatever.

If she makes a couple bucks dressing and singing like a cowboy, who cares.

Some say rap is not music

Darius Rucker

He's just a grifter who segued to country when his soft rock career washed up. See also Kid Rock.

Why is he a grifter? He is a successful artist. He also grew up listening to country. I think he started in rock when he was in college at Univ of South Carolina and rock and roll is played in college bars.

Not really sure why Darius Rucker is even appearing in this discussion since the only thing he has in common with Bey is that he's a black crossover artist. But Rucker is legitimately one of the biggest country stars of the last decade, with Wagon Wheel one of the most played country songs of the past several decades. By contrast, Bey just dropped a vanity country album that isn't getting much play at all. I haven’t heard a single track.

Let me be clear Jay-Z is a jerk. The angry Black man syndrome he wasn't. If you listened carefully yes he spoke about Beyonce, but also another artist. Specifully DMX was a rapper who release two albums millions of albums were sold. He wasn't even nominated. Rappers boycotted the Grammy's that year. Rap music was labeled as a bunch of angry black man. They have to boycott and fight like hell for their hip-hop genre to be considered as music. Almost every funky song these days has rap included. So yes there are issues here. The big picture Beyonce was the subject but I took as if he was speaking about another artist as well. Is Beyonce singing country? Who's bright idea was that? I listened to both of her songs. Two words HELL NO! I am Rebe Mcintyre fan all the thru. Beyonce's voice doesn't work here. It has a distinct sound that has been great setting her apart from other artists but not here. Jay-Z is nothing but poison in this woman's life. If she truly is serious about country a lot of the songs are stories of heartbreak and infidelity, If not that but still a story or something we can relate to. I do like country music, we have African Americans who sing country music. But something tells me they grew up playing the guitar and listening to country music. You don't go into a studio and cut a couple of records and now you are a Country Western. All to suit Jay-Z's. Let's discuss the big picture for a moment. They sent Carter a message that night. It was humiliating, and personal. How do you have the number one album, but not asked to perform? Why? There was no way they were going to sit and watch Beyonce and Blu-Ivy steal the show. Nor could both parents win awards, and semi-steal the show. Why they are content to keep Beyonce in a box? Come on 32 Grammy's number 1 albums to keep coming up short. I listened to Taylor Swift's album it wasn't a show-stopper. Taylor Smith didn't serve it nor did Adele ( I love Adele's music) dedicated her acceptance speech praising Beyonce's album Lemonade that should have won. Adele broke the Grammy in two and offered the other half to Beyonce. If it's not based on race then what? Their disdain for Jay-Z? He's poison in her life he took a classy young women and turn her into a half naked trophy wife. She once was classy and sexy to some cheap looking whore on a corner. It doesn't matter how much the clothes cost. It's wrong not to play her country music. Let the public decide and the racist or folks who don't know what the hell to think. Stop hating. She deserves the same respect as other artist. There's no lock and key on any genre of music. Play the songs!

Grammys may be the best award show to recognize diversity. Rap, hip hop, best African music performance, Latin, etc. all categories added over the years to appease minorities.

True that we can count on one hand the number of black county stars. I like Darius but his fame still derives from a couple Hootie & the blowfish days. Nashville stars did a mashup of Hold My Hand at a show. Wagon Wheel is a cover of a hit.

Her new country songs were written by Canadian songwriters. FYI

Texas Hold Em was promising but it really sounds like it’s being done for laughs. Missed opportunity. Would love to hear Beyoncé sincerely trying a more traditional country sound.

How about they did it reflect the changing demographics of the Billboard music charts? And to reflect the artists who make music American’s are actually listening to?

Appease minorities.

Rihanna has better music than her. She deserved album of the year though I doubt she gives a shit . She was fully dressed and didn’t even dance at the Super Bowl and everyone knew all her songs..

Beyoncé was always overshadowed by someone: Britney, Rihanna, Gaga, Taylor. She has everything but is still insecure about her status

?

Darius has put out multiple country albums and is in the country music hall of fame. He is huge in country music.

Kane Brown is another black country singer who is popular. His music gets a lot of play on the radio (which is how I first heard his music).
