So a bunch of white liberals voted for CDT as the diversity candidate that the Latino community didn’t want. Do Latinos like ZTH? |
To be fair usually only about 2,000 people vote in the caucus. So it’s not exactly as if hundreds of thousands of voters lined up behind CDT. By the time November rolled around she was the only choice. That’s why voting in the Dem caucus really matters. Don’t let 2,000 hardcore ArlDems decide who runs the county and school boards. |
The fact that she can't give a straight answer means she isn't going to do anything about it if/when she gets to the School Board. She's just using the School Board as a slot on the resume for when she moves up. |
What did Chen say about SROs? |
She has just enough connection and Chen. Has kids going to APS. At least she went one more step than him and joined an advisory committee. |
*as. Just noticed my typo. |
He’s against SROs according to his response at the naacp forum. |
Are Latinos really against SROs or just a few vocal ones? IIRC, the reason why SROs were kicked out in the first place was partly due to undocumented communities fears of police presence around their kids. The working group (which included Hispanic leaders) didn’t even want SSOs. |
Ok so Zuraya was one step ahead of him but she's been to what like 3 meetings? Honestly I just think she was better groomed. Someone probably told her to hurry up and join a committee so she can show her involvement. She must have referred to it 5 times in the time I saw her speak. She's not fooling anyone. Neither Zuraya or Chen have any involvement as far as I'm concerned. And Larry, oh Larry... still trying to figure him out. |
Larry is not a great public speaker so he gets drowned out. BUT he's been on these: - Former President of the CCPTAs - Chair of the Science Advisory Committee - Co-Chair of the Advisory Council on Instruction (took these from earlier in the thread) I am a shameless Larry fan. He's a sweet guy and teacher and he really cares but he has no campaign manager. |
That really turns me off. Parents work hard on these committees for years. |
You better have a source on that because if you're lying... oh well, you're still anonymous and can make unsubstantiated claims. But I do know someone on the info tech committee and I'm sure others do too! |
Larry's not going to win. It's between Chen and Zuraya, and she's going to win #2 just because of all of the people backing her. We should have had better candidates, but here we are. Some of you anonymous experts should have run. ![]() |
+1 |
Larry has my vote regardless. I don't believe in defeatism and in a ranked election I truly believe if people voted for who they think are qualified instead of who they think is going to win, he'd be one of those going up. His 2 kids are k-12 APS grads, he's a teacher, he has all that experience on CCPTAs. You all say you want a qualified candidate but when one walks up, you will never vote for them if they're a bad at being a politician. And we wonder why our schools are in the state they are in now. |
