Not looking down on people isn’t the same thing as not admiring them. No, I wouldn’t look down on sex workers either. |
Yup. The ability to choose, not the right to have your choice to never work applauded by all other women. It stems from insecurity. |
No walking back detected. But I do think it’s remarkable that you claim to know so much about who does the housecleaning — when surely you are on your knees scrubbing your families sainted feces nightly as you think it’s morally superior to do so? Again— teach your daughter to be a “tradwife” and to scrub and iron and sweep if you think that’s the best and most worthwhile contribution she can make. Other people just see more potential in their children. |
To be very specific I don’t look down on the poster for being a “tradwife”. I look down on her for looking at her child and thinking she’s not capable of more. |
I’m with the PP but feel free to “look down” on homemakers. No woman is going to go back to the workforce because you have a strong opinion about her life. |
|
imagine this headline for a man. 'man bringing up son to be stay at home dad, rely on woman'.
would be seen as completely nuts but really no different. |
I have never met a man who wanted this. and there's a reason that zero very wealthy men have one. all their wives have something going on. sah with nothing else is solidly LMC low COL/ flyover behavior. |
Is there a typo here... in the first line? You can't be serious. |
Nor is woman going to give up sex work because I have a strong opinion about her life. Or drug addiction. Or gambling. But if someone said “I’m raising my daughter to be a porn star” I would look down on her parenting, too. I do think raising children— boys and girls— to be able to support themselves without going into a job they hate is very valuable. We teach our kids lessons about financial responsibility and frugality and living within their means and having the opportunity to make money work for them so they have greater freedom. |
Say this to your hardworking housekeepers. (And I actually taught my kids to scrub their own feces off the toilet bowl should that situation arise. The girl AND the boy know how to clean up after themselves and then they actually do it! They don’t expect other people to do it for them.) |
Please explain how I’m wrong. (And FWIW, I have a job. But until I have saved enough to support myself without that job I am not deluding myself into thinking I’m completely free and independent. I’ve got bills to pay and mouths to feed… If my employer goes under or decides to walk me out or trade me in for a younger model I might be in trouble. Same as any other person reliant on a paycheck.) |
Why do you think my housekeepers are raising their kids to achieve at school, and not be exceptionally good at ironing? |
| Am I really the only trad wife on DCUM |
| Trad wives aren’t new and it’s not a trend like outraged feminists want you to think. Women have been traditional wives for centuries. Yes |
These comments are hilarious. Who would’ve thought 9 pages of women were triggered by the thought of cooking dinner. Women…you’ve lost the plot! Breaking news at 9…men and women are different and have different genetic makeups! There are, yes, outliers. All of this known since 2000 BC. Move along! |
