I'm raising my daughter to be 'traditional wife' one day

I mean, many religious fundamentalists have never stopped raising their children this way. But agree that there is a rise in people playacting for their "family channels".

Neither is a woman but yet most women raise there sons to depend on a woman for personal and household chores, social life, extended family obligations, parenting and family management's mental load. Only one thing has changed, women also has to be financially dependable for them.

I would do the same for girls if I had any.
The boys don't know any of it and are doing well at school.
I was abused and used at work place and I don't want it to happen to them. I also can't really help them with any career advice. All I can do is just work, save money so they will have options.

To be fair, its not just you. There is no shortage of wealthy families who raise their trust fund kids to live an easy and happy life. Even education or token career are given for social standing only.

The stupid thing is, traditionally, the vast majority of women in our society have always worked. Both my grandmothers and all of my great grandmothers worked to help support their families. Who do you think was sewing clothing, working in mills and factories, nursing, teaching, farming, laundering, raising rich people’s kids, etc.

This idea that women traditionally have not worked outside the home is an affluent white woman’s fantasy.

This is a recipe for raising miserable kids with no purpose in life. Even bill gates is not leaving his kids a life of leisure. I would re think this plan.

He is leaving mrga millions, just not billions.

Your response is an example of internalized misogyny.

I’m raising my son and my daughter to recognize that work is work, whether one is paid for it or not.

Nicely put.

Honestly, those are the ones who rake all the benefits and none of the sacrifices traditional wife/mom makes.

Regardless of whether this lifestyle is for you, traditional housewives do not “do nothing”.

I’m raising my son and my daughter to recognize that work is work, whether one is paid for it or not.

yeah sure. Stay home moms always say that. what a waste of life

And being a corporate minion or paper pusher who hate both work and home lives is a good use?

Same here

- Divorced mom with career

I was SAHM for 9 years and got divorced partly due to financial abuse and a controlling XH. I am so glad that I had started back into working before sh*t hit the fan because I’m on my own 2 feet.

Not only that but death, disability and disease happen too. In our society everyone needs employability to survive.

My mom raised us to be homemakers, dad pushed us to be professionals, it was really confusing. One of us is an accomplished workaholic, other unconsciously living mom's idea of ideal wife/mother.

I didn't read the article but I wish I was raised with some domestic skills.

If you are still "saving money" and don't already have familial wealth this is dumbbbbb
