So you lied to get a perceived advantage because you weren't confident of your own record and ability to make a strong case for your fit to major?

So how were your JHU grades?

I hope you're not my doctor or personal wealth advisor or not even real at all (under-bridge-dweller).

But you're ok with a personal wealth adviser who did need to play the card because otherwise they wouldn't have had a shot? What's the difference? It's not a perceived advantage if it works.

My point is that if you are real and actually checked a box as a lie then you would be a thin-skinned, sleazy person who only looks out for himself. I wouldn't trust you not to churn my portfolio or steal from me as an investment advisor. And I would question whether you would overrecommend procedures and bill fairly as a doctor. If you are real, I've met people like you and I don't want you handling my business. I'll take it to someone ethical and trustworthy who outcompeted you without compromising. Risk factors in even without emotions. Liars are high-risk people to be around. That's why society judges them harshly when exposed.

If you need to check a box you are already a pathetic loser. You don't have the chops to compete without it and you know it. You have to live with the shame of knowing you weren't good enough.

None. They all sit their seething in their DEI sessions. However, the marginalized folks still know who most of you are - hopefully you know that.

Hopefully they know the difference between their and there. America’s race to the bottom continues.

Most people in this country are against race-based admissions, even groups that supposedly benefit, and Supreme Court has ruled that it is illegal.

+1.

How do you think Obama got into Columbia as a transfer student ? Occidental had a guaranteed transfer policy for "certain" students. He had average grades while at Occidental. He would never had have been accepted to Columbia as a white student, despite being born to a white mom and raised by white grandparents.

We all play our cards.

As Obama said in one of his books, he identifies as black because that’s how he experiences the world (when cabs didn’t stop for him, when he was followed around at stores, etc.). Biracial kids who “look black” aren’t spared racial discrimination because they have a white parent and grandparents. A white Italian checking off Hispanic is just being dishonest.

What if said white Italian’s ancestors have lived in South America for over a century, as is the case of virtually millions of South Americans?

JHU has the lacrosse bros. Don't worry. All hope isn't lost.

If your family came from Italy by way of living in South America for generations, you are defined in. That's definitional. Italian straight from Europe doesn't count. Those are the rules. If you followed the rules that's fine. Just don't be a liar.

At 74% white, Alabama is looking more attractive to many.

Like 50 of them total, across all 4 years.
Vs. 2598 Asians as most of the 14% internationals are Asian.

Nope. They actively discriminate against whites at 18% and they aren’t shy about saying it. Condition of Bloomberg’s $.

You have more Hispanics and African Americans, particularly when looking at national demographics.

How do you come to this conclusion? I get they don’t factor legacy, but assume they care about all the other holistic stuff.

They also absolutely recruit athletes.

They do recruit athletes and my child was going through it with them. The coaches made it very clear that the standards for admission are the standards for admission. They asked for grades and test scores almost right off the bat. And maybe there is some allowances for Hopkins athletes, it is not out experience and it most def is not a significant allowance. DC didn't go as JHU was not taking DC's position in DC's grad year so it didn't work out. But one of DC's teammates IS going there and that kid is beyond smart and I have no doubt meets the academic requirements.

Athletes are not taking anyone's kid's spot at Hopkins.

She's not lying. Why shouldn't she use all the tools at her disposal?

Exactly. Not sure why that poster is acting like her niece cheated the system or something.

This isn't the 1930s. Whites will not necessarily get the majority of the spots anymore. Truth be told, if it came down to true " merit," white men would be lagging way behind. The white patriarchy gave them a massive head start.

Our families are Italian by way of Argentina, circa 1940. Then US circa 1980. We always check the Hispanic box. It has as served us very will thus far.
