JHU - 18% white in class of 2027

Anonymous

According to jhu there are more Hispanic kids than non-Hispanic white kids in the class of 2027. What? This has to be a lot of white kids fibbing and putting down latino because I’ve been on campus multiple times recently and these numbers do not feel right

They are actively anti-White and anti- legacy at JHU-seem to pride themselves on it nowadays.

I am not sure what the problem is. They are taking the best and brightest. Not every white person is entitled to a seat at an elite and rigorous school.

Hopkins is clearly the place for smart kids without major hooks. Grateful.

Good point. They're still "somehow" getting the best & brightest and standards and rigor are being maintained. They can apparently do so with or without "white" students.

Not sure how you equate “not white” with “no hooks.” It sounds like you’re saying parents of non-white students wouldn’t have attended JHU.

If what you want is a university without all the holistic admissions nonsense to cover up admissions corruption, Hopkins is the place. Grades, Standardized tests, Teacher recommendations. Daddy does not need to set up an NGO.

I agree with your take OP. It's not advantageous to identify as white (or asian) in the college admissions game so people are really trying to reach and find that BIPOC ancestor back in the day

The largest demographic group at JHU is Asian... why are is OP emphasizing hispanic and rather than what is actually the largest demographic group?

How do you come to this conclusion? I get they don’t factor legacy, but assume they care about all the other holistic stuff.

They also absolutely recruit athletes.

As a practical matter, they do not care a whole lot about other "holistic" stuff. Legacy is out. Not that much athletic recruitment at JHU. Lacross and Fencing are the only exceptions, I think.

No, they recruit for all sports…just their D3 sport recruiting looks different than their D1 sport recruiting. I know kids recruited for baseball and wrestling.
