also dont forget, inflation has gone nuts but the insurance reimbursement to doctors has stayed constant so they cant afford to hire staff. Its really a sh*t show.

Its about to hit dentistry next.

For those who are blaming Obamacare-- what is the exact problem? (honest question.). I guess if Obamacare means more American insured and thus more people demanding medical care, it could simultaneously stress the system AND be a good thing.

Or are you referring to some other regulation in Obamacare-- requirement for zero-cost annual physicals and that kind of thing?

More people in the system with a decrease in reimbursements. Docs have two choices, not accept and go out of network OR see a lot more patients for the same amount of pay. Do you now understand now? Something has to give and it’s the quality of care. That’s what Obama care did.

Odd that people in other countries still are shocked at what is happening in the US, because it is so much worse than they could have expected, based on their experiences. And the outcomes data on systems assessment has never favored the US. Hmmm.

These people aren’t necessarily a good judge. They are constantly bombarded with anti-American propaganda. Anyone with European friends know this.

It’s too hard to really judge differences in healthcare since you have differences in lifestyle and overall health (obesity).

I have 5 weeks of vacation and my European friends act like they don’t believe me. They’ve been told Americans don’t get vacation or it’s 2 weeks.

Europeans are very high on their benefits and lifestyle. They tend to go along with whatever they are told. Look at the recent Covid response.

You know there are actual studies on this, right? But cling to those beliefs if it makes you feel better, I guess.

I hear what you're saying but the grass is always greener...socialized healthcare and insuring the masses comes with a price. Where do you skimp? It has to come from somewhere right? 3 choices: 1) less people insured 2) decrease in reimbursements to docs 3) higher premiums

I know its a hard pill for people to swallow but average incomes for the docs and healthcare systems are essentially constant for decades but we are servicing more people. Its getting to the breaking point from the docs perspective because the cost of living, cost of dong business and everything else has increased but incomes are flat. This leads to decrease in quality of care. I am in healthcare and I see whats happening.

Please just agree something has to give. You cant change the equation and add in more variables and expect the same outcome.

Please explain how Obamacare is to blame?
Maybe you are just upset some poor people have access to healthcare.

What I think needs to give are the extraordinary profits being made by executives and Sharpe's in certain corporations, coupled with the ridiculous tax cuts for the uber-wealthy by Trump.

What is like to get in return is a functioning health care system that provides at least basic care for all citizens. I've worked as a physician in more than one country, and this can be done. Not if it isn't funded properly, and that means stopping governmentally facilitating the hoarding disorder shown in some citizens' bank accounts.

I mean, reimbursement for doctors goes down with universal healthcare….maybe….since insurance companies are suddenly loosing business I think they are REALLY the bigger losers but they aren’t a sympathetic group.

3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th most dollars spent on lobbying are from pharmaceutical research, American hospital association, blue cross/blue shield and then the American medical association. We are talking about BILLIONS of dollars…you are naive to believe that any of that is about looking out for the average person and their health care needs.

Obamacare has nothing to do with the overhead costs but nice try.
