oddly enough, something just popped up on my facebook in memories that my alma mater was named the prettiest campus in its state by Travel and Leisure a few years back

It was also on that list posted earlier this year by architectural digest (I think)

It is mentioned here a few times, too, so many think it is lovely

It also has a couple of new buildings that look really good near entrances (Public Policy and Computer Science). They do a nice job with the little farm and red barn too. It is one of the prettiest huge schools I've been too. I prefer it to Michigan, Cal, or UNC, which are all beautiful big schools with a lot of brick as well.

We were pleasantly surprised when we visited. Construction takes away but otherwise it looks like a campus should look like. I didn’t see anything wrong with it. I didn’t see anything wrong with the surrounding area either. Plenty to do within walking distance.

Nice, but I think IU has a nicer campus in the same state.

Colorado for Mountain West. Princeton for Northeast, but there are a number of beautiful SLACs that definitely give it a run. West Coast - I'll go with Scripps. Beautiful but very small. Midwest - either Chicago or IU. Southeast - Duke or William and Mary.

Extending to the UK - Cambridge

Miami of Ohio is the prettiest campus I've ever seen. So, I'd go with that one for the Midwest. (Indiana is a close second.)

East: College of William & Mary and Middlebury
I also really like Columbia
Midwest: Indiana University
South: Vanderbilt (I haven't been to many other universities in the South)
West: Not much experience with beautiful West coast universities, but I visited University of Puget Sound when I was a kid because a relative worked there. From what I remember the campus is sort of an odd architectural mix but it felt very green and lush and you can see Mount Rainier and you're near the ocean. That said, it's been a long time since so it could be my memory improved it by combining everything I saw in Puget Sound with my memory of the university.

Schools like Middlebury can be a wonderland if you visit them on the right day. Visit on a bad weather day and you can get a very different impression.

Yes we definitely visited on a wonderland day--all that glistening white stone against the green and then the rolling hills and the campus farm etc.
