Fine, you do your religious incantations and I'll do mine. Just don't make me do yours.

Show me who these conservatives who are against women’s sports. Then show me they make up any significant portion of conservatives. Like it or not, conservatives have daughters, wives, sisters etc who play sports. In fact, many of them even - gasp - SUPPORT them and want them to have such opportunities. Sorry this doesn’t fit your narrative. |
Pointing out that a building occupies land from which a population was genocided is not a “religious incantation,” it’s the truth no matter how you try to obfuscate (and try to share scary facts like I didn’t already know them? Do you think no one reads books?). You probably don’t stand for the anthem and have told your children not to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance, which, after all, declares that our nation is “under God.” That’s an actual religious incantation. They’re religious incantations used for you to virtue signal. But again, thank you for showing me that land acknowledgments are a net positive and useful teaching tool.

+1 to ALL of this. You summed up exactly where I am. I think "woke" is basically the substitute for "politically correct." Remember how much derision there was around that term? When really all that was being asked was not to use racial slurs anymore and affording everyone basic respect? |
Republicans only began to pretend to care about women’s sports when trans women joined them. It’s not about supporting women in sports, it’s about homophobia. If you don’t know about the GOP’s documented hostility toward Title IX and women in sports, that’s a failure on your part. |
| The GOP use of “woke” is basically the same as it was when they hated the term “politically correct” and it functionally means that they’re going to be bigoted and ignorant and want everyone to stop trying to be respectful and kind because it makes them look bad. |
And remember when GWB was handed the Presidency by the Supreme Court and the issue of “political correctness” pretty much evaporated overnight from the public conscious and mainstream media? I was in high school in the 90s and heard conservatives whine about “political correctness” for something like 6+ years. They immediately dropped the talking points after the 2000 election debacle. It’s as if the issue that needed to be solved never really existed. It was literally a rhetorical figment of imagination that no one actually cared about. |
You don’t remember Trump and other Very Online conservatives ridiculing the women’s national soccer team? Or how they denigrated Brittney Griner and women’s basketball in general? |
Conservatives have totally screwed over women. Totally. They are responsible for women giving up their reporductive rights. Then they want to wave a shiny trans object and try to distract women form their ugly reality? Women in sports and fine and a tiny number of issues with a few trans athletes will never bring it all down in spite of all the conservative yammering. |
Thank you for the bolded- I roll my eyes at many things on both sides but I don't think they need to be regulated in the extreme way that Rs want to do it. I roll my eyes at the beloved religiousness that Rs love no much but I don't think we should ban it (just practice it away from me!). I roll my eyes a little at liberal college students who protest sweatshops while wearing clothes from the GAP. I roll my eyes at people who routinely get abortions for birth control (even though the number of people doing so is vastly overinflated by the GOP) but I don't think that means they should get the death penalty (or that we should regulate aboriotn in. way that people who need healthcare are then affected). |
Just go to her Twitter. She’s busy playing the victim rn but when she’s done she’ll go back to claiming she’s the mom-iest mom to ever be a homeschool mom and that mean liberal ladies don’t even like kids and then she’ll say something weird about breeding. |
|
Do you guys remember the first time Bethany got mentioned here and she and Seth railed for days on Twitter about how she was “attacked on a local mommy forum”? They framed it as if she was just being attacked by a group of moms at the park for her parenting when in reality she was being discussed on the political board for something obnoxious she said about politics on Twitter.
She wants to play with the big girls until it’s not fun for her. Bethany is a very serious journalist when she wants to be and then when she’s challenged she’s just a homeschooling mama. |
The mom thing is because she has an inferiority complex and needs something to feel special about. No other conservative woman is this focused on it - Megyn Kelly had her kids in her 40s, Laura Ingraham adopted in her 40s, hell the woman from Fox and Friends had her kids fairly late I believe. But Bethany had her first baby in her 20s and that makes her special even among conservatives. Think about it. She’s an idiot, she’s annoying as shit, frankly she’s average looking and dresses frumpy - she has nothing but motherhood that makes her stand out even among conservative women. So she tries to frame it as a conservative vs liberal thing when in reality, it’s just a people vs other people thing. Some people want kids, some people don’t. Some people want 5, some want one. Some want to start at 29, others don’t get started until 40. It’s literally all she has. |
| And btw she constantly rants about how liberal women don’t start having kids until their fertility is waning but you never hear a peep from her about conservative women who started a bit later. How bizarre and a total coincidence, right? |
