It is when you lead a grievance group.

I find it annoying, why does she get his ear? and why does he give her his valuable time?

I also find it annoying that our "22 years young" candidate has zero connections in the community.

Yes. I think it's a plus to hear that Miranda has been meeting with Duran regularly. Sounds like she has a relationship there.

It seems inequitable to me. Why does one interest group get the ear of the superintendent?

does everyone have this access?

I assume any group could ask to meet. Have they? I don't love everything about him, but he gives the impression of paying attention to different community interests. I think that would extend to meeting with any group that asked. And maybe others do meet with him. I have no idea. Bu I think it's good if she does have a relationship with him since it looks like she will be our next SB member.

Duran’s former chief of staff endorsed her so they clearly had a very good working relationship.

WHAT??? WHERE??? His first Chief of Staff who went to MoCo?

Yes, if you are on different APS committees and/or joint APS/Arlington County Commissions, then you generally have direct access to staff and the superintendent. I’ve been on several over the years (but none currently). I’ve never met with Duran but did meet several times with Murphy.

yes but Miranda isn't the chair of any advisory groups

he's not listed as a supporter on her website so it doesn't look like this is accurate

I work at APS and we have mutual friend. He isn’t allowed to be listed on website but has shown up to events for her to give remarks and is helping with campaign.

They meet with community groups as well. Not just advisory. Get a group together that can add value and request a meeting.

That sounds like work. It’s way easier to sling mud on the internet.

Looks like it was accurate. His endorsement of MT is quoted at length in this piece. It's about RG endorsing the Kid but it quotes Stockton's statement about her.

Miranda has shown dedication to children at all levels that was fair and equitable, and she has continually fought to ensure APS is seeking to maintain high standards for academic achievement for every student. Her display of love for the community demonstrates a genuine concern and kindness for the well-being of the children of Arlington. It is clear to me that she possesses the mastery and skills required for effective Board management and governance.

Furthermore, Miranda possesses the temperament, knowledge and commitment to Arlington County that is required for today and the future. I believe she will be a strong asset for Arlington County parents and students, and as such she has my unfettered endorsement.

Lol, seriously? Reid Goldstein endorsed the child. Wow.

There are people that see him as the only viable option. And being on a school board in this day and age is a thankless job, so the competition is light.

Based on what I've seen in posted videos, Reid's endorsement isn't going to age well. But the Stockton endorsement is a real coup for MT.

Well, Reid used to walk out of the room when anyone from APE spoke at school board meetings, so I'm not surprised he would endorse a child.

The whole thing about Angelo "quieting" rumors he started by posting an announcement on his website that he quit is something else though ...

Also, I wonder what else a 22 year old is qualified to do? If youth on its own is qualifying, I guess 22 yr olds should run everything!

Looks like she picked up an APS teacher endorsement today too.
