Everyone assumes that Bowser will go on to a cushy federal appointment or whatnot. Let's consider another scenario. City Paper reported that the FBI and DOJ are investigating former deputy mayor John Falciccio and his deputies concerning DC's transactions with developers, among other things. Falciccio was the mayor's point man for development, real estate deals, planning & zoning, etc. If this investigation broadens, it's not inconceivable that Bowser could be drawn in as well.

Maybe Josh Harris can give her a cushy gig after she sells DC's finances down the drain for the next decade.

I wish I could buy stock in the likelihood of Muriel and the city getting completely rolled in the Commanders negotiation.

Sign me up.
And isn’t everything supposed to be attached to her downtown propaganda? How does this even connect?

Probably that sports and concerts at the stadium would bring in tourist $ and development will benefit the neighborhood. Not rocket science why cities want stadiums.

NFL stadiums are always a financial albatross and the money spent on them could be better used elsewhere. You can make a (flimsy) case for Nats Stadium that gets used 95+ days a year, but not an NFL Stadium.

It's not rocket science why cities want them (most local politicians are very dumb when it comes to finances).

+1000 we do NOT need an NFL stadium in DC.

+2000

I DO want an NFL stadium. I DO NOT want Muriel Bowser to be Mayor again.

I'm curious to know why? Tax payers will get stuck with an enormous bill- the newest stadium is the Titans. Taxpayers are covering $1.2 billion out of a $2 billion estimate plus any cost over runs.

Let Gov FleeceBro pay for it in VA.

I actually think it would be good if they put it at RFK. DC doesn't own the land, so you can't put affordable housing there. What else are they going to do with it? It also depends on how the deal is structured. No one would say that the baseball stadium did not jump start development in the Navy yard.

They should build the stadium

She’s highly competent at the game of delivering political favors and totally incompetent at administration of city services.

The city is moving into a crunch time where service delivery is becoming increasingly important and she has completely eroded capacity to deliver those services, except oddly for bike lanes.

She either needs to apply the same zeal for bike lanes to other services or she needs to go.

Bowser is a mess. Maybe we can have her recalled. Some issues that need to be addressed asap:

1). The Youth Rehabilitation Act (YRA) which releases "kids" under the age of 26 for first time offenses - even gun charges, they get a slap on the wrist, a short period of probation and they are out on the streets again - this is even for gun charges.

2). Our crime lab, housed within the Department of Forensic Science, lost its certification a couple of years ago so any crimes that were committed using their evidence requiring lab work - rape, murder, etc., is questionable. We are now using a private lab case but what happened to all of those cases that couldn't be prosecuted because of faulty lab work? And DFS' general counsel seems to be fighting hard interfere with any oversight: https://washingtoncitypaper.com/article/63827...ct-with-its-members/

3.). Leadership at OAG is also weak - they run a "hugs not thugs" program instead of actually penalizing delinquent juveniles.

4.). Simply put, the Mayor is weak and her time is up. She does not have an effective strategy for fighting crime and she is surrounded by sycophants who tell her what she wants to hear. Look at her Chief of Staff, the MOLC, Deputy Mayor of Public Safety. Look how poorly her staff handled the Falchiccio matter - they fumbled the ball big time and looked like amateurs - you would have never seen such sloppy work in places like NYC or L.A.

5.). We need a new Mayor.

Bowser may find herself as a target of an ongoing DOJ investigation into Falchiccio’s dealings with DC developers and now includes former DMPED and OP associates. He was her point man for development, planning and zoning.

The only place I’ve ever heard about this was here. Do you have a source on this?

There has been zero serious bike lane expansion in DC in probably six years but continue with your pathetic and ignorant boogeyman.

Why are you posting angry messages about bicycles on a DC area mommy board if you don’t even live in DC?

At this point Bowser should be grateful if Biden were to appoint her as head of the HUD office in Nome, Alaska.

Give me someone who is tough on crime and listens to what developers want. I will vote for them. I am liberal and live in SE. I don’t care how that sounds to bleeding heart SJW types who want tons of affordable housing (aka projects) and no one getting arrested. THOSE types are the reason the city is going to sht.
