| The PP says if you want a certain type of school, all you do is self-select in the lottery. The lottery basically doesn’t exist for these schools past the first year, even where there are empty seats at BASIS. So none of the above would be a good fourth on PP’s list. The lottery does not equal choice. |
Words have meaning. You can't just word-salad and make them mean something other than what they do! 1. There are no "empty seats" at BASIS. The capacity of the school is 650 and they are at capacity every year. You are confusing your opinion on where they should fill seats in the lottery with how BASIS does it. They fill with 5th graders. No...Empty...SEATS! 2. The fact that not everyone gets what they want in the lottery does not mean the lottery does not offer choice. You make yourself seem an entitled self interested jerk by essentially saying, "unless I get exactly what I want it isn't a choice". If you are at a restaurant and they run out of one of the specials, do you not still have a choice of other entrees? Or would you then say you were not offered a choice merely because your first choice was no longer available to you? Words have meaning. |

| This. It’s ridiculous how people have manipulated basic facts regarding the lottery. School choice might be a blessing and a curse at the same time but it is what it is. |
