Actress Anne Heche severely burned in fiery car crash

She was sexually abused, has resultant mental illness and the disease of alcoholism. Nobody, thank God, was hurt except for her. My thoughts and prayers are with her that she can pull through these injuries and heal herself in recovery from alcoholism. I also hope the homeowner is very well compensated for losing her home and possessions and all the inconvenience.

But obviously, she should no longer possess a driver's license ever again.

+1 Life isn't always fair, and the mental health genetics in her family are problematic. Just as others with certain mental and physical limitations have done, she needs to secure other means of transportation and not drive.

I doubt that all of her mental illness can be attributed to sexual abuse.

Maybe she was trying to die.

Seems like it.

Probably medically-induced.

Just by the way she smashed into more than one building, and how fast she was going, I think she was. After she hit that garage, a normal drunk person would not go 80 mph down a small side street.

It’s not. She entered a coma due to her injuries.

If she lives, she may not even be capable of driving.

Or maybe she just didn’t want to get caught after she hit the first one.

Yeah but most people that want to kill themselves don't want to kill other people, too. She very, very easily could have

Anne Heche slurred her way through a podcast that was posted hours before her horrifying high-speed crash — saying she was downing vodka and wine after being “rocked” by a “very bad day.”

But that was taped days before. Just saying.

I have very little sympathy for Heche. She chose to drive impaired. I wish the Hollywood celebrities who are expressing sympathy would also express some sympathy for the poor woman whose home was demolished.

You can have compassion for both.

No compassion for drunk drivers. None.

This right here.

My brother's an alcoholic with multiple DUIs. He doesn't think he has a problem. He never knows when he's drunk, either. He doesn't have the ability to go out for a meal and have one cocktail or two beers.

Society would be better if he was never allowed to drive or own a car without an interlock ignition device, but the courts deem that as something that negatively hinders their ability to earn a living. Stupid and pathetic, especially in the DMV area with Uber, Lyft, taxis, and public transpo.

Why don't you lobby for this? Many states require it (they feel it lets people turn to work quicker, because they don't lose their license if they have the device). Take political action in support of better laws.

Do drunk people know how fast they are going? My experience with inebriated drivers is that they absolutely overestimate their ability to drive safely.
