White tie early in the day?

How did it go, Op? Or has the wedding not happened yet?

It doesn’t sound like it’s happened yet. She just posted.

I normally wouldn’t call out something like this, but since you’ve decided that ignorance is “sad” — You have not seen “white tie” at an embassy in the am. You’ve seen “morning suits,” which are a different thing.

No, they're not. White tie is the American nomenclature. Moring suit is the Brit's. Concept is the same.

Morning suits: cutaway coat, gray or other light waistcoat, usually a normal tie.

White tie: black tailcoat, white shirt, white waiscoat, white bowtie.

Either your British attaché spouse is misinformed, or you misunderstood.

See photos above.

+1 “white tie” is literally in the name. Morning suits are not worn with white tied.

Wrong. "White Tie" in Britain is called "evening dress" or "full evening dress." Completely different from "morning dress."

The Brits like to keep it simple and put the time right there in the name.

Here are all the pics from the State Dinner the Queen hosted for Trump in 2019. Completely different from morning dress.

What are you wearing, OP?

Op here: I have this and I will take it with me. https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/aidan-by-aidan-mattox-floral-chiffon-maxi-dress-0400016591992.html?site_refer=CSE_GGLPLA:Womens_Dresses:Aidan+by+Aidan+Mattox&country=US¤cy=USD&CSE_CID=G_Saks_PLA_US_Women%27s+Apparel_Dresses_Must+Win:Aidan+by+Aidan+Mattox&gbraid=0AAAAADO6JtR6qwQ7CDL1Nq8RR67XuXyQ8&gbraid=0AAAAADO6JtR6qwQ7CDL1Nq8RR67XuXyQ8&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3OvtuqH5-AIVweTjBx0W9Qj_EAQYISABEgJssvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Wedding is this weekend, so like I said before, I’ll take a few options and scope out what people are wearing. If my other dress I posted above doesn’t fit the aesthetic of the other guests. We are going to the wedding city tonight because we decided to extend our stay and make a bit of a long weekend/mini getaway out of it. I have a few other dresses I’ll take as well

That’s a really good choice for this situation, such as it is. Have fun and you must report back!

OP, I love the Aidan Mattox dress. Can't wait to hear what you end up wearing.

I'm seeing a lot of uneven hems, which might work, angling between cocktail and ankle. I found one, but didn't post because it's navy and dark green, and doesn't seem right for morning.

Thanks for coming back, op! Love your choices! Hope you have a great time!

They are probably confusing white tie with morning coat, as both of those have tails. Women's dress code is dramatically different for the two though.
