So what ARE they urging people to do? If there is no formula on the shelf what should a parent do? |
Right now PP there is formula out there, just not the speciality formula that some babies need or a particular brand that a baby is used to. So making your formula at home is the wrong advice. It’s safer to buy a different type of formula than to make your own at this point. The problem is that lots of babies can’t have any brand while others are fussy and don’t like drinking a different formula each time. |
They haven’t really come up with solutions. They should at least set up some kind of nationwide hotline to answer questions. Or FDA should come out with clear advice. Right now the advice we have is ask your pediatrician. |
You buy what you can and hoard it... |
| I’m no expert but can the Governor declare that it’s a state of emergency? We need some efficient way to know which store has what. I mean driving around for hours looking for formula when you have a baby to take care of and possibly other kids is a problem. |
We used Gentlease. We switched to Perrigo's (PBM's) version of same thing - its the purple can. They manufacture the generic infant formula sold by CVS, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, and maybe Sam's Club (check label at Sams if its PBM/Perrigo). Just buy the purple can. And it tastes so much better. Hope this helps! |
I just checked Sam's Club's gentle label - it is PBM made too. |
|
Amazon's Mama Bear label too! Also made by PBM. So these store brands listed above are all interchangeable - all identical https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Brand-Formula-Milk-Based-Non-GMO/dp/B07RJFDGKH

Last post lol! So like I said above, PBM/Perrigo manufactures the infant formula sold under the CVS, Target, Walgreens, Sam's Club, and Amazon Mama Bear labels. Purple one is like Enfamil Gentlease.
So, you can buy online on Walgreens and pick up in store - it shows which stores have it online here https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/well-beginnings-gentle-baby-formula-milk-based-powder-with-iron/ID=300399876-product |
| What formula do you need and what's the zipcode? Let us help you find some formula for your baby. Please don't make your own formula at home! Buy buy baby in Rockville has some of the ready to feed special formulas for babies with sensitivities. You can reserve and pick up in store. Walgreens also had some Enfamil, and Burt's Bees formula in stock/in store. |
Sure, but when will Amazon actually get this to you? I don't know if it varies by area, but when I click on that, it says it is expected to arrive (via Amazon Prime) May 27-June 5! So it really doesn't matter which formulas are "interchangeable" if NONE of them are in stock. |
It's in stock at my Walgreens here. Under their label |
Your Walgreens sells Amazon labeled products? |
Or are you talking about the well beginnings? For the Well Beginnings, the closest one (in stock) to where I live (FAR flung exurbs) is 28 miles away! I may live in the exurbs, but it's not exactly the boonies--there is a Walgreens within walking distance of my house and at least 2 more within 5 miles. Driving nearly 30 miles to a different Walgreens is absurd--and really something that most parents of infants don't have time for. *I don't personally need formula. I'm just someone who is shocked and disgusted by this whole situation. |
Walgreens generic infant formula is made by PBM/Perrigo - its identical to the formula manufactured by same company sold under other generic labels by CVS, Sam's Club, Walmart, and Amazon Mama Bear. |
