But reality is Florida needs Disney more than Disney needs Florida. The legislature could reverse this next year, which would still give DeSantis a win among the GOP base and preserve Disney’s special district (and Florida’s typical pro-business stance).

Disney is leaving Florida. They will be followed by the other theme parks.

Good luck. It's not like you can just pick up icons like Epcott Center and Magic Kingdom and leave. The Disney logo literally has Magic Kingdom. If Disney leaves where are they going to go that will also give them all of the tax breaks and exemptions from local laws regarding land development, water run off, etc ? Certainly not a blue state since Democrats are against tax breaks for corporations and would be against relaxing environmental laws so that a mega corporation like Disney could move in and do whatever it wants on the land.

Disney does not get tax breaks in Florida! So your post is nonsense.

You mean the ones that do not exist?

Maybe they should put Trump in charge of Disney.

He could make it great again.

It is not just sex, its also gender and gender identity and encouraging prepubescent children to undergo gender reassignment.

Exhibit A and B for what my dad always said - never underestimate the stupidity of the American voter. These people exist. An actual person (I think??) typed these two statements.

I can only speak for my daughter, but since this bill passed, it's open season on gay kids in the school she goes to (in Florida, just to be clear). When they announce Pride Club at her high school (not "little kids", HIGH SCHOOL), along with the other clubs, they are openly boo'ed. They are mocked on the regular in the, what, 21 days since this passed. The homophobes like those above are teaching their children to be hateful, and they're doing just that in droves right now. And it's only just beginning. You two posters must be gleeful reading this. Must be so proud of the hate you're teaching your kids.

If you say something enough times no matter how crazy it sounds it goes from make believe to reality.

If the GOP actually had a platform that would be plank #1.

It makes me sick to think about how much we are going backwards.

The liberal media decided to rename this bill the "don't say gay bill". In doing so they are promoting homophobia.

The "parental rights in education" bill addresses what should be taught in school by teachers in the third grade and below.

Actually it's "sexual orientation and gender identity." So don't mention you're a woman married to a man to your students. Or you might get sued.

It also addresses in the rest of the bill what is "developmentally and age appropriate" for the remaining "students." Its prohibitions are only explicit in K-3. It affects K-12 broadly and (purposefully) vaguely. And the bill's desired effect is straight out of the mouths of the sponsors and governor. The whole bill, taken in its entirety, is about squelching discussion of issues around LGBTQ, including any "services received" from the school. They have been clear about that, that they feel it belongs in the home. You know that saying when people tell who they are believe them? When the sponsors of a bill and the governor tell you the desired outcome, believe them.

And the effect has started, as I said, at least in my daughter's school.

quoting from an NPR article:

The bill, which some opponents have called "Don't Say Gay," was signed by DeSantis on Monday. It reads, "Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards."

In other words the "don't say gay" emphasis comes from the Dems.

No one is going to successfully sue because a HS teacher brought up homosexuality in school.

I'm more worried about successfully suing a straight female 2nd grade teacher for mentioning her husband or reading a book to the class that mentions a male character and a female character are "married."
