So who cares if saying frat means people know you weren't in a frat or sorority? There are people who didn't care in college and I certainly hope by now no one cares. I feel sad for those who care at this point that they weren't in a frat all those years ago.

Nah.

The people expressing outrage over the "frat" word are either laughing while they are trolling, or they are irritated by this. The people who are laughing at the fratty fratboys in the frathouse discussion are just laughing.

It only counts as trolling if you care, and only one side might actually care. Save your advice for them. They might need it!

(psst: I think you are misreading the thread)

The large majority of the most successful and coolest women I know were either in sororities or dated and married guys in fraternities, and often both. What I didn’t know was the divergence with the commenters on this message board, although in hindsight I guess it makes sense.

I’m sorry but not surprised that your social circle is so limited.

And that shows the caliber of students in frats.

At many colleges the Greek system average GPA is regularly higher than the campus-wide average.

So is the math honor society’s. Your point?

I calculate that the frats think the math honor society members are super cool, too!

Really? I graduated 10 years ago in a heavily Greek university. Everyone called it frats — especially the guys in the fraternities. I got invitations to come to “my frat’s formal” or “my frat is having a party this weekend.” Ha! I guess times have changed.

I guess that’s what passes for wit in a frat.
