PSA. Stop saying “frat” it’s very uncool

Wow. You guys must be old as f——
My kids are both in greek life, as is my daughter’s boyfriend at a different school 500 miles away from hers…everyone says frat, srat, whatever. No one cares. Get your 1982 pledge class granny panties out of your ass crack and get with the times.

There are actually very few sororities. Most are actually fraternities full of women. My daughter is in ZTA and it’s a fraternity.

Frat frat frat

synonymous with "has to pay for friends"

Or does it objectively have a prerogative meaning that you object to? Or just too casual ?

No it’s just very uncool all around has been for 50 some years .

having frat bros think I’m cool isn’t even in the top 10,000 things I care about soooo - that’s a no

+1,000,000. Imagine thinking other adults give a damn if you think they’re “uncool.” Delusional.

What you’re not understanding is the fact that we weren’t in a fraternity or sorority is a good thing.

(psst: I think you are misreading the thread)

The large majority of the most successful and coolest women I know were either in sororities or dated and married guys in fraternities, and often both. What I didn’t know was the divergence with the commenters on this message board, although in hindsight I guess it makes sense.

Neat anecdotes, frat bro/sor sis.

Sorry you didn't get a bid, geed.

The smart ones of us went to elite universities who didn’t have this “greek” nonsense in the first place, but we get it, you peaked at 21.

I legitimately do not know a single person in my orbit who doesn’t think Greek life is a little cringeworthy, if not flat out embarrassing. Lmao it definitely is *not* cool.

I’m a Phi Mu. Technically a fraternity. No one says that or calls it that. It’s a sorority and part of the Panhellenic council.

Just say douchebag.

Keep telling yourself that, geed. Did you even lose the V before you graduated college?

Juvenile and lame.

Look. People aren't being kind. Mocking isn't kind.

This thread wasn't started as invitation to be kind, though. It hasn't developed into one, either -- talking about getting all "the tail" and losing "the V," or calling other people "geed," or the other interactions -- they are exactly why people look down on you still and think your smug pride over something with so much ugliness is worth mocking.

What you are doing isn't convincing anyone of anything, other than reinforcing that negative view of you. It's obvious people still use the word "frat" casually within the greek system. Insisting they don't, or that you should be respected because of fraternity affiliation, is going literally nowhere for you.

I mean, have at it if you want. But it's not helping you.
