Two Montgomery school board seats will have primaries as new candidates join race

Mean girls club in moco must be worried about Dawn's prospects as a boe candidate

Uh oh the tiny Dawn crew is getting worried. Umm the very basis of this post was that this can’t possibly be all that is running. 🤔 Neither of these two are remotely qualified to run.

I looked up the Trevor Noah clip linked above. Its an episode on the need to open schools and students wanting to return in-person.

Yes, there is a clip of Dawn.

She states that schools should reopen. She also states that teachers/school staff were posting photos on Facebook at restaurants, yet stating on social media that schools were too unsafe to reopen.

Sounds like she points out hypocrisy. Good!

Considering how many people I know—including family member and friends—who suffered from COVID-19 and/or or lost loved ones to this disease, I will not vote for anyone who would be irresponsible enough to disregard the mask mandate that was in place and risked the lives of others. In my opinion, that demonstrates a lack of judgment, concern and respect for others.

Feb 11th board meeting

I tried to see the meeting where Ms. Innaco-Hahn was wearing a mesh mask, but I can't seem to find a February 11th MC BOE meeting. There was one on the 10th. She was giving testimony at 41:38 (https://mcpsmd.new.swagit.com/videos/154354). What was interesting is that it does look like it could have been a mesh mask, but I had to enhance the image quite a bit to see it (far more than an average bear could do).

But what is interesting is that if she was wearing a mesh mask, whomever made this comment was likely at that meeting. There was no way someone could see this without enhancing the video. The most plausible information is that whomever is attacking Ms. Innaco-Hahn is with the board or MCPS Central Office.

So my comment to you is that if you, MCPS CO or BOE, were so concerned about "lack of judgement, concern and respect for others" you should have gotten your s**t together in January when the major outbreaks were happening. You kept kids in school until over 9% of the student population contracted covid and over 2000+ teachers and staff fell ill.

MCPS CO and BOE has no moral high ground to preach from.

I searched and found it here
https://mcpsmd.new.swagit.com/videos/154354 her segment starts at 41:50.

Her mask appears to be stretchy and or mesh/spandex material. When she gets animated you can clearly see her face and expressions.

I don't know how to post an anonymous screenshot or I would save you the trouble.

A. That is not "mesh"
B. It most certainly is ineffective against COVID. But it's only marginally less effective than the typical cloth mask that many children are wearing. While O would not vote for her, I actually think she is demonstrating a good point which is that simply requiring face coverings is incredibly stupid. Aerosolized particles go right through cloth masks whether you can see through them or not.

You are right. I misspoke and it's not mesh. It's a stretchy gaiter like material. It's what spandex looks like when it gets stretched out.

And I would like a new board but I don't think Dawn is the answer.

Interesting that these messages are focused on the stretchiness of her mask (even though public figures usually take a mask off completely w/public speaking).

But the topic of her speech should be getting more attention. She is pointing out an increase in self harm in students, including suicides. She discusses a comprehensive approach to giving students access to mental health services in school. Isn't that a bit more important? It sounds like she wants the schools to help improve access to care.

This “mesh mask” thing is something that Dawn brags about in the Re-Open group. What you’re posting about is not what we are talking about. The critics are coming from within the re-open group - if you are in that group, you know what we are talking about. She was so gleeful and proud of herself! There are not, from what I can see, any BOE or MCPS administrators in that group, although there are a few teachers.

So Dawn, like most parents, wanted schools open. So what? Where she differs is that most parents didn’t personally attack and embarrass teachers and flaunt their non-compliance with the mask mandate.

Not a fan pf her but which aspect of the mandate was she not complying with? Did the mandate specify what type of face covering people need to wear? If the mandate allowed mesh face coverings, that seems like a bigger problem than one person choosing to wear one.

You clearly missed the point-she wasn't being praised, she was being mocked for her ridiculous testimony. No teachers would ever friend her on social media, she was just making things up. Additionally, if she wants to bring up social media and bad behavior, she DEFINITELY should not be throwing stones. She lives in the biggest glass house of all. It's cute she has little cheerleaders from her reopening group here though.

Face covering means a covering that fully covers a person’s nose, mouth, and chin and is secured to the person’s head, including cloth face coverings, scarves, and bandanas. It does not include face covering with a valve; or solely wearing a face shield.

Sounds like a mesh mask could meet the requirements in the mandate. It would do about as much as cloth masks on kindergarteners.

“ Face covering means a covering that fully covers a person’s nose, mouth, and chin”—if there are holes near the face, mouth, and chin, such as with a mesh mask, fully covered isn’t happening. Sounds like a mesh mask could not met the requirements in the mandate.

What do you people mean by mesh? I went back and looked at that testimony, and you couldn't see any holes in her mask.

It's not a known secret she did this. She is proud of it on Twitter. Someone called her out for it. She also had her sons wear mesh masks all throughout the pandemic ALL while talking about how ineffective any masks other than KN95s are.....she is a mess. She lays it all out for you to see. None of this is secret.

OK, so this tells me you are simply going by hearsay, which means nothing and that you are defaming someone on an anonymous forum.

LOL. HER words are not hearsay! SHE is proud of her family’s use of mesh masks and announces it at BOE meetings.

Well that is called spin...and knowing where Trevor lies politically, there was an intentional effort here to appeal to the liberal school "closers."
