How can she represent families when she has no idea what is going on?

Oh, but she thinks she knows everything.

Maybe she could know enough to find her kid a better therapist and/or tutor. Or, better, send him to boarding school.

From the article posted: " Her family moved him into private school, but her other son is enrolled in MCPS."

And from the article, it sounds like failures in virtual learning are what made them move her kid to private. Cannot blame the family at all

Agreed. Moving one child out of MCPS because the system was failing your child doesn't mean you aren't qualified. The other child is still in MCPS.

Saying virtual failed the kid is very generic. Was there a parent involved? There was no excuse for her not to be given how much time she has to lobby. Did this child have academic issues and needed tutoring? I feel bad for the kid for her to use him as a talking point saying he failed and was crying every day. What kind of parent puts that information out there for everyone to see for years to come?

And I shudder to think that I might have to vote for Silvestre, given that Fryar seems mentally unstable and Giandomenico doesn't seem capable of substantive thought.

Coll seems like the clear choice in this race.

Is her seat up this time around? I don't think all board seats are up in each election.

She has two sons. She moved one to private because of DL. The other is still in MCPS.

Oh boy. I know Dawn personally. For many reasons-she is not the answer y'all are looking for. That overcompensation you see her making about her kids on social media? There's a massive reason for that. A parent who has to pat themselves on themselves on the back for their parenting skills on public forum should tell you what you need to know about what they AREN'T doing in reality.

Ummm worst news ever. Please, someone else run. We don’t want these two deciding mcps policy for the next couple of years. Dawn is tone deaf. And Dawn don’t try and get this post removed like you usually do. As a candidate, you are now subject to public scrutiny. So heckling people at BOE meetings, wearing a MESH mask to BOE meetings (well before the mandate was lifted) in order to antagonize the BOE and those who were masked and picking on the SMOB are all things you will have to answer for.

How do you run? where does one apply?

Yes. There's another thread about this, and she hasn't filed for reelection yet. But a challenger has filed, Jay Guan.

She has probably made things really difficult for her kids and doesn't care I feel bad for her kids.

That's a thread about a different (more viable) candidate.

Honestly, I don't care if she moved her kid. I moved mine and am moving him back next year but I certainly would not conduct myself in the manner she does nor would I act like I am an authority on a school system that my kids haven't participated in the last two years. A lot of the behavior I've observed from her has been extremely childish. I was actually AT the meeting where she wore that silly mesh mask. I was there with my elderly mom who is a retired educator and was interested in hearing about the mental health issues at MCPS. At the time the mandate was still in place - I know she didn't like the mandate but it was still in place at the time. If you're fine acting like that, what are you teaching your own kids?

Also, to be so critical of others, she is way too thin skinned. She's basically been on Fox News for the past two years squawking about how horrible MCPS is but when you mention her on here, she and the other MCPS administrators immediately report the post. How are you going to run for office when you can't stand to be criticized but want to dish it out??

Of all the lunatics in the TogetherAgain group, and they pinned their hopes on DAWN? Hahahah-they could have at least tried to choose someone who can at least mimic the actions of a reasonably sane person.
