Are you really that stupid? LBJ won't take Breyers seat until October as he will finish out his term. ACB was filling an empty seat after the death of RBG... Jesus people, we have bigger problems that Congress needs to address.

Oh so there was a rush to fill an empty seat because a Justice died? So why no rush after Scalia’s death?

She was picked because she is exceptionally qualified.

Are you outraged at all the while male justices throughout history who were picked because they were white males? Who would not have been picked if they were not white, or not male?

Two wrongs make a right?

Either way, she will probably be a competent justice. Whether she will be a brilliant one is to be proven. So far her judicial record is better than Sotomayor, who is the weakest of the justices and a perfect example of someone elevated beyond her capacities pretty much her entire career to meet identity politics goals. It's also almost a given she will toe the Democratic line in just about everything so it's unlikely that she will surprise people or swing a verdict.

She may also be the last black justice appointed to the court for a long time. Once Clarence Thomas retires/dies, the court will likely revert to just having the one black justice as 1 / 9 = approximate share of the US population that is black.

I don't see any problem having 9 black female justices.

+1 “People ask me sometimes, when — when do you think it will it be enough? When will there be enough women on the court? And my answer is when there are nine.”
- Ruth Bader Ginsberg

Retiring while Obama was in office would have hastened that goal.

There are many reasons why it would have been right to retire during Obama's tenure in office, but not this.

Did you forget that RBG was replaced by another female justice, ACB? RGB's passing during Trump's presidency affected the liberal/conservative balance of the court, but did not change the male/female balance of the court at all.

As amy functions solely as a tool of the patriarchy - what were her comments on pregnancy and birth, do you remember? They were pretty heinous - she’s not so much a woman as she is a terrible and unqualified justice.

Roll your eyes all you want. That’s a fact based assessment of her.

Brown Jackson on the other hand promises to be a sane jurist.

DP
No. That is your opinion. And your second comment can be translated as “I like her because she has my ideology.”
You fail to admit that many of her decisions have been overturned

Meaningless. She’s been a judge for nine years. Of course she will have had decisions that were overturned. Is that number more or less than the average federal judge? Or for other judges on the DC District Court or the DC Circuit?

so why Grassley did not support voting on the president's nominee within two months of Scalia's death? Scalia died in February, his replacement was nominated a year later. this is the GOP rule: we nominate our justices whenever we have the president and the majority of the senate, as fast or as slow as we want. otherwise we block any nomination by a Dem president even if it means to wait years until we have both the WH and the senate. period, this is just the rule, then they make up BS eveyr time to justify teh specific situation but the overall rule is always the same

Do you mind summarizing for those of us who don’t want to get Daily Caller on our browsers?

President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, was a member of the Black Students Association (BSA) at Harvard University that invited Leonard Jeffries, a former professor who has been criticized over antisemitic and racist remarks, to speak at the school.

The insurrection-supporter loser Hawley is having a predictably bad time with Brown Jackson as the nominee.

May be Josh is hiding some child sex offenses in his closet. Investigative journalists should check this out. If GOP blames someone arbitrarily we know what that mean...

Ugh! Hawley is so nauseating! We've gone to a bad place if people like these are elected officials.

Honestly, brilliant choice or not, she is qualified, and that's all that should count. Once upon a time, that's pretty much all that did.

I will speak on behalf of all brilliant and more than qualified AAs in the US. You are not in her league and she isn’t thinking about you or your narrow beliefs at all. She is too busy reaping the fruits and rewards of her, gift of superior intellect, hard work and excellence.

Life’s not always fair and yes some people really are smarter than others. And you and everyone else in the room knows it and these people often aren’t in the package you think they should be.

You are very welcome.

I’m the one you are replying to. I am an AA Woman you fool. You do not speak for all of us.

NP. And you speak for very few, or the ones closely aligned to the Clarence Thomas' school of thought. It's sad that in 2022, you are so insecure and still seek the approval of others. Really girl, you're worried that they consider you an affirmative action pick. You are that insecure of your achievements that you use precious braincells for that line of thought. Pitiful

I am not insecure at all. I’m saying Biden hurt her credibility while trying to pander and self congratulate. KBJ is more than qualified, and should be the nominee, Biden just did it the wrong way, and that will stick with her forever. It’s insulting, and you give him a pass for it.

Your grasp is so shallow. I’m going to fix this for you. “Clarence Thomas an insult to Thurgood Marshall, and and all of us. I was there and remember the gut punch. KJB will not be tarnished by this in the slightest. Those who object would have objected no matter how her nomination was announced.

I am a other liberal black woman that wishes Biden would have not announced his intention to nominate a black woman. Why not just move in silence? What was the point to announcing your intention a month in advance? Created unnecessary cloud on a VERY qualified, great choice.

Is there something wrong with honestly and transparency. I think it’s refreshing. If he’d gone through the dance and interviewed and vetted a bunch of white people just for face then you all would have had a problem with that at well.

Yes, then her detractors would be complaining that if Biden knew he wanted to nominate a Black woman he should have been honest and said so at the start. They don’t care. They just hate KBJ like they hate all Black people (and yes I read that two of the quoted PPs claim to be AA/Black women).
