FCPS Masking Update

No, mask mandate band are not happening everywhere. Just in TX and FL. Smart and rational states are leaving it to districts. Political and irrational states are banning local mask mandates. Why don’t you know this?

[b]I've been onboard for him and like him a lot, but this was overboard.

And what was with that weird ending? Maybe if he hadn't gone on so long with his rant, he would have had time to check for errors.

Sincerely,
Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"

AGREE! I thought it was way over reactive. Disappointed. We're at 14 new cases per 100k and low positivity! Even Scott Gotlieb says his kids will unmask on Feb 28th when CT makes masks optional.

CT got rid of the statewide mandate -/ they didn’t tie the hands of localities to make their own mandates. VA didn’t do what CT did. And Fairfax is still at high transmission.

And CT local mandates are letting kids unmask

Optional if fully vaccinated.

At moderate transmission or lower.

Nope March 1.

See - no one knows anything. Everyone is positive and everyone is different.

I guess we'll wait and see.

The new law doesn't apply to staff. So the only rule that concerns staff masking is FCPS'S "plan". That plan says only vaccinated employees can unmask when Fairfax gets to CDC's moderate level and holds that for 7 days. BUT, CDC will probably change the rules next week....so who knows!

They told principals the other day unvaccinated staff can have the option.

I think it’s a fair conclusion.

I 'm on board with a third party and have been for years. GOP/DNC are corrupt machines.

BTW, check out the Q1 and Q2 contract spending on Board Docs, under Brabrand Briefing. We need people who understand big budgets and spreadsheets, which is missing w/current SB.

Are you really not able to understand the distinction between the CT and VA approaches? FCPS would unmask soon enough -- Omicron cases are in steep decline -- but Virginia made it impossible to reinstate mask mandates when future variants may necessitate it. Parental opt out is not a scientific basis to decide public health measures; it's pure politics.

I applaude McKay for his letter. The loud voices on DCUM to the contrary, most of us in Fairfax are educated enough to understand that the way the General Assembly and Youngkin approached this is pure stupidity.

And please forgive my typo.

They were partially responsible (along with the other local SB's) for losing the governorship, so now they're lashing out against him and taking their ball home.

The FCPS SB played the game of pure stupidity all last year. They were rock stars at it. So this is what you end up with.

Youngkin probably wouldn’t have won if school reopening was treated as the priority.

And Chap wouldn’t have stepped in on reopening or masks if they had a plan.

So yea, the area school boards did do this.

Weird reasoning.

How so? The incompetence of the local SB's last year resulted in Youngkin. Everything that is happening now can be traced back to last year's SB stupidity.

Fwiw, Fairfax county is lower (new cases) than every county in CT. They are close, but we are lower. They made a decision to stop masking on Feb 28. Youngkin created a lot of drama by trying to stop mask mandates on Jan 15 in the height of a crushing covid wave. But if Youngkin had made masks optional at end of Feb, he would have been seen as moderate. Youngkin created drama, and FCPS added to it by rigidly clinging to CDC standards that are out of date.

I feel like a child of divorced parents who both play games, and the kid is stuck in the middle.
