I definitely read the email as they are planning on fighting it. They allude to legal responsibilities but leave it open as to whether they think the legal thing to do is to "protect the kids". The FCPS school board has completely lost their mind. They are so smug it makes me sick (and not from covid).

FCDC is losing their minds over the mask thing and also recently implemented an ideological purity test for members and pushed some people out they decided weren’t with them enough. McKay knows he has to get on that blue sample ballot, because that’s what drives about 60% of Fairfax voters. The loons in charge of FCDC bring you this junk.

If Fairfax GOP had a chance to be in charge they’d be no better. Our local party orgs are insane. We need people not backed by them, but that’s a pipe dream.

If he wanted to keep the GA out, Fairfax County leaders should have done the right thing last fall. And spare me the “hindsight is 20/20” line. Plenty of US, even VA schools were successfully doing hybrid (or even 5 full days!) and that was clear by mid-September, not to mention European examples.

I wrote to him and called his office last year regarding re opening schools. Never received a response from him.

I like Jeff McKay except for this latest letter.

If you don't get his newsletters, you should, just to know what's going on.

I will allow him this one poor choice (letter). He's normally pretty moderate and good for Fairfax, but this position is so out of touch...like FCPS.

The new law doesn't apply to staff. So the only rule that concerns staff masking is FCPS'S "plan". That plan says only vaccinated employees can unmask when Fairfax gets to CDC's moderate level and holds that for 7 days. BUT, CDC will probably change the rules next week....so who knows!

Maybe the answer is to have an independent group that is not affiliated. A parent ballot.

We need a Fairfax Third Way or Independent Party. Maybe we need to get off our butts and make it happen. I really believe these clowns are causing significant damage to my kids education. It will be almost too late for my kids with the long school board term. But we owe it to the next bunch of kids to do better. Children and their Education should not be a political hostage or football.
