Can you really and clearly explain this deficit and how pricey condos are the answer?

There is a 40+ page thread in this forum about it.
Or, you could google any of the Brookings, or DCFPI or DC Housing white papers on the topic.

If you can't explain it in a nutshell, how pricey condos in DC are so needed, then I really don't need to go any further .

I love the way Tricia is trying to take credit for this. She should be ashamed.

Nothing makes you happy, does it.

That the failed attempt at whatever the abomination of the map presented last week has been reverted to something more aligned with what people actually support is a good thing. That Tracy tried to cram something really bad down all of her perspective constituents throats until there was huge pushback is a tell.

Kate, get a hold of yourself. You’ve really lost it.

Someone on the task force told me the votes are there for the old map if that what you want. Since you won’t be happy anyway, I hope they screw you. It’s what you deserve at this point.

Dear Neighbors,
For those of you who have been following the ANC redistricting closely, this is an important message. The Task Force has created a new map that will be considered at the next meeting on Tuesday evening. Attached is a slide show in .pdf form of each ANC but you can find the full map in the ESRI software in the “Everyone” folder titled, “Full Proposal Built from Voice Framework”. The Task Force constructed this map from the framework of the "Neighborhood Voice” presentation given last week.

You may recall, the Neighborhood Voice presentation included components of a map, but it was not a full map. Roughly 15% of the SMDs displayed were non-conforming with populations outside the allowed 1900-2100 for SMDs.The Task Force started from this proposal and created a complete, 100% conforming map. This map will be considered alongside the map presented by the Task Force last week.

In particular, the proposed map:
completely conforms with all population and compactness directives (every SMD is within 5% of 2,000 residents);
does not split any Census blocks other than the mathematically required split of American University;
embodies the population corridor concept we have been advancing throughout our deliberations;
creates a new ANC in Middle Wisconsin with 6 SMDs (including 2 student commissioners from AU);
imposes Massachusetts Avenue as the border between Upper Wisconsin and Massachusetts-Macarthur;
includes the area east of Foxhall Road in Massachusetts-Macarthur;
establishes Reno Rd. and 41st St. as the border between Upper Wisconsin and Upper Connecticut, ensuring that all residents close to Wisconsin Avenue in the vicinity are included in the Upper Wisconsin ANC;
includes the National Cathedral, Rosedale Conservancy, and the Naval Observatory in the Lower Connecticut ANC;
includes the Foxhall Village and Colony Hill neighborhoods in the MacArthur-Mass ANC
keeps the Forest Hills neighborhood within one ANC.
Comments are welcome and the best way to do that is by emailing the Task Force at ward3ancredistricting@gmail.com.

Why hasn’t this been posted on every neighborhood list serve in Ward 3? Why is the Task Force information so hard to find.

Because the people on the task force, most particularly Ward 3 Council candidate Tricia Duncan, is a clone of Mary Cheh, and has no interest in public engagement or transparency. It is only because there was huge pushback that their horrid map from two weeks ago wasn't adopted. Thank goodness the community rose against that dumpster fire.

CP Smart Growth and Task Force member Bob Ward’s efforts to cast anyone who cares about historic preservation as racist is offensive. There are historic districts throughout this city and people of all races and ethnicities who care about preserving historic architecture. But they beat that drum in their effort to silence liberal residents of historic districts who may get in the way of their development efforts.

Historic preservation in DC has its roots in maintaining a status quo that is grounded in racist housing policies. That doesn't mean everyone who supports historic preservation is a racist, but you are taking Mr. Ward's words to an extreme that I don't recall him ever writing or saying.

This is interesting, Can you explain this claim in detail with examples, and then explain how it extends into 2022 when we are able to buy into DC neighborhoods regardless of skin color? thank you.

DP, but historic preservation and other undue restrictions on development raises housing prices, which black people are systematically less able to stomach.

Learn about housing covenants that covered many of the DC single family home neighborhoods that are currently historic districts, and then take a look at every neighborhood complaint ab out new development where the term "neighborhood character" is cited repeatedly and often.

The current map proposal seems pretty good. I mean the older plan to combine Foxhall with Glover Park, when they are only connected by a poorly maintained path through the woods was pretty silly. It really makes you wonder what they were drinking during that meeting or if they knew what was going on.

But historical zoning is pretty clearly is anti-poor. Especially in DC.
